Camila’s Barbie Party

I am finally getting around to sharing Camila’s 3rd birthday celebration! She was smiling non stop all day that day and my mama heart was so dang happy! If you didn’t notice, it was Barbie themed ๐Ÿ™‚ She has been very into barbies and mermaids these past few months so I was really excited to start planning the Barbie birthday party of her (and my!) dreams come true!

black barbie birthday party

In my mind, I am always like “I’m gonna do something simple” but then Pinterest happens and that thought goes right out the door LOL. A huge THANK YOU to the team at Over The Top Party Events for the most amazing set up that was beyond my expectations! I sent her photos for inspiration and she nailed every single detail! I love that she was even able to personalize the table center pieces, backdrop and Barbie boxes with Camila’s name! I highly recommend them if you are planning any event! Before they left that day, Landon asked if they were coming back for his party lol.

The kids black table and chairs were rented from Sky High Rentals. They other colors too. We always use them for the kids parties!

I used Camila’s barbies to decorate throughout the house for an added touch. I also added signage where I could. Just a super easy, inexpensive way to make everything look extra special! Oh and I did put pink toilet paper in the guest bathroom. Basically changed whatever I could to pink that day LOL

I also borrowed some of her Barbie cars, used them as vases and put fresh flowers in them!

The assorted mini cupcakes and macaroons from Baked My Melissa were a hit! They were so easy to grab for both kids and adults and you could pick the flavor of your choice!

The all pink cake is from our local HEB grocery store. I also bought wafers, dipped them in white chocolate and sprinkled them with white, purple and pink sprinkles. ๐Ÿ™‚ Camila loved those!

The Barbie plates, cups and pink utensils were all from Party City. This pink table cover that comes in a box with a “cutter” might be one of the best things ever invented!

houston bounce house

And no kids party is complete without a bounce house, am I right?! We rented this huge princess castle bounce house from Sky High Rentals. If you can’t tell, the kids loved it ๐Ÿ™‚ They also had this fun blow up princess chair and as soon as I saw it I added to cart so quick! They have a ton of different character and theme options as well. You can check out their website here and also some of our past birthday parties here, here and here,

Where We Shop FOr Cute Kids Clothes

I often get asked where I buy all of Camila’s outfits so I figured I’d put together a list of some of our favorite stores in a blog post for easy referencing!

Where To Shop For Cute Toddler Clothes

  1. Target – I mean are you surprised? lol Target kids has really stepped up there game in the past few years and they have also been putting together more Mommy and Me collections. Plus the prices are always great!
  2. Dillard’s– I feel like I don’t hear a lot of people talk about Dillard’s anymore! But like, why?! Don’t sleep on Dillard’s ya’ll! I get a ton of cute things for myself from there too.
  3. H&M– This was my favorite place to shop for Landon since day one and it has become a favorite to shop for little girls clothes too.
  4. Cotton On– I spend a lot of time and money shopping at Cotton On Kids! There stuff is great quality and have so many trendy pieces for both of the kids! But P.S. never buy things full price because it’s a little expensive for kids clothes IMO but whenever a sale hits, girl I’m there! The clothes wash really great and hold up well.
  5. Buddy Love– Okay, there pieces are definitely more on the pricier end but you know I cannot resist a Mommy and Me moment and Buddy Love definitely does it best! The prints are always so fun, the price definitely reflects the quality and often times they have pieces fro Camila that I wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else!
  6. Bailey’s Blossoms– My go to site whenever I found out a friend or family member is having a girl! They have such girly and boho style outfits. They also have a small Mommy and Me collection. Just FYI- I have found it’s best to size up on their items. It runs a bit on the smaller end.
  7. Amor and Little Girls– Our first purchase from this boutique was Camila’s Prada inspired crossbody bag. Since then we have bought many cute tops and jackets!
  8. Amazon- I have purchased many great kids clothing finds from Amazon. The cardigan that Camila is wearing in today’s post is actually Landon’s but from Amazon. I know sometimes Amazon is hit or miss but I’ll always share the hits! Some of our fav fashion finds for Camila are posted here, here and here!

Date Night Dresses

Happy Friday! I hope your week was amazing! I know I am like 10 years behind on this but I started watching Big Little Lies last week and OMG it is SO good! Have you watched it? I just started season 2. And speaking of shows, don’t hate me for saying this but not a big fan of Just Like That ๐Ÿ™ I had high hopes for it and so far I’m just not loving it. I mean there are some moments that I have enjoyed and also topics I have appreciated them talking about but overall, it’s just eh for me.

But anywho, today I am rounding up ten spicy date night dresses that your S/O is gonna love on you as much as you do!

Wear To Work: Black Midi Dress

Today I am sharing a black midi dress that I recently purchased from Express. This sheath dress with a draped mock neck detail is so flattering. With the right accessories it can be worn for the office and for a date night!

I just saw that this dress also comes in a few other colors as well! I will link them below. I am wearing the size medium for reference and it fits great.

My sweet parents got me this handbag from my Dad’s “secret” website he always orders our gifts from! He always finds the most thoughtful, personalized items on there and he bought my sisters and I all similar bag styles last month. I love the size for everyday but since he won’t give up his secrets I linked similar handbag styles above!

Also, I noticed my blog post, Negotiating A Job Offer, is getting a lot of traffic this month! If you are looking to move positions or move companies entirely, this post talks a lot about other things you can ask for instead of or in addition to a pay increase.

I hope you enjoy!

Cozy Casual Outfit: Checkered Free People Sweater

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! I am back home in Houston and it took about 10 minutes for the ice on my windshield to defrost this morning! Needless to say the Houston weather is a little colder than it was in Florida.

Landon is at school today but since Camila is home with me I found some fun and creative toddler activities to celebrate this important day. I found this printable from The Wise Mama blog and the blog, Mama Knows All, shared this printable PDF that we will be using today. She also shared the idea of making a collage from old magazines. Let your kids select people from different races and backgrounds to cut and glue them into a collage. Once it’s all together you can talk about peoples differences.

I gotta be honest, when we were little I was always taught to not see differences in people. I was told to look at everyone like we were the same color. Although the idea of treating people equally is definitely something I still stand by, acknowledging people comes from different backgrounds and embracing other cultures is so, so important. And also, so is teaching our kids about America’s history so those are some of the projects little Miss and I will be working on today!

Before we get to it, I wanted to share the details of this casual outfit I wore last week. This Free People sweater made top sellers!

I got the small in this chunky knit sweater and it fits perfect. I got this exact purse from Vici but also linked a similar one from Amazon. It’s a Chloe inspired bag! Love it but the only thing about the Vici one is that I feel like it’s a little too big to carry around as an everyday bag so that’s why I linked the smaller Amazon one for ya’ll!

Work To Weekend: Purple Suit

Don’t be surprised if you have been seeing purple pop up everywhere! It has been named Patone’s Color of The Year for 2022! The Pantone shade 17-3938 Very Peri to be exact ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t always been a huge purple person but some shades of purple I can get down with! Like this vibrant velvet number I am sharing today.

Also if you are wondering how the team at Pantone comes up with a color of the year, to sum it up, individuals on the team travel the world searching for influences in culture, fashion, entertainment, lifestyles, textures, etc. They look at so many different things to decide what the color of the year will be. From there, this new color of the year begins to influence so many things. From fashion to industrial design. I am always excited to hear what the color is going to be but I also find it so incredibly interesting that these individuals at Pantone that decide the color of the year have that kind of power of influence. It reminds me of that scene in Devil Wears Prada where Miranda rips Andy a new one regarding Cerulean Blue. Who remembers that scene?

Sunday Styling: Wayf Ivory Blouse

I hope you guys had a great weekend! We spent a lot of time at home on Saturday, snuck out for a little date night with friends after church and then a little family date day on Sunday morning. Even though the weather was really gloomy, it was such a wonderful weekend.

Yesterday I also did a little Sunday styling session which I am going to try to do for ya’ll every Sunday! It’s where I’ll take an item and style it different ways to get you some different outfit inspiration. If there is anything specific you want to see styled different ways, email me info@roselynweaver.com or drop it in the comments below! I want ya’ll to get the most out items in your closet new and old!

This Wayf blouse is so pretty. I love mixing feminine pieces with non feminine pieces like distressed denim and faux leather! This top can also be worn on or off the shoulder and the front tie detail tied two ways.

When I shared these styling ideas on stories yesterday a few people were asking for links to the items I styled the top with. Unfortunately some of the items are pieces I have had in my closet for years so they aren’t available anymore but I am linking similar items below so you can achieve the same look.

I hope you enjoy these posts!

Work To Weekend: Gold Foil Sweater Jacket

Happy Friday! I hope you had a great first great week of January! Ours was pretty good. We are back into our regular schedules and I have been making it a goal to cook at home more. I almost forgot how much I enjoy cooking! The last two months of the year were busy so I am embarrassed to admit how many times we door dashed dinner. Zero door dashes this week! Well unless Brandon snuck in milkshakes from Dairy Queen again lol

I recently ordered some items from Express so today I am sharing this gold foil sweater jacket that can easily be styled for the office and the weekend!

Let’s Catch Up

Happy New Year fam! Can you believe its 2022? It’s like something they would say in the Jetsons when I was little and I would be like “whoa that’s what the future is going ot be like” lol and look here we are.

I have a long list of blog posts that I want to share this month but after going through some feelings the past few weeks, publishing a 2021 highlights post or best purchases of the year post just didn’t feel right. I promise you those fun, light-hearted posts are coming soon but I just wanted to catch up with ya’ll a bit since I have come home California.

First off, any visit to California is so good. Being with my parents, spending quality time with family and seeing the kids thrive with their cousins is truly the best feeling. For those of you who are new here, I grew up in a very small town. As soon as I had the opportunity to move to Southern California for school I did because I was ready for a more fast paced life but now that I am older with babies of our own, I just love hanging out in good ole Lemoore. I feel very fortunate that my parents raised us around a big community of aunties, uncles and life long friends. Seeing them is just a big reminder of what’s important. Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in the things that are offered to us as influencers and as nice as those “things” are, they aren’t the things that are the most important in life.

While we were visiting my family, we received the news that a very close, lifelong family friend of ours was very ill and at the end of his time on earth. My sister Crystal informed me and to be honest I don’t know if I was in denial or what but it took me a few days to even process it all and then on December 26th, he passed. I was fortunate to be with my parents at this time because although my husband is an amazing support system, my parents knew Jeff and they understood the loss. A day or so after, I was sitting in my childhood room and getting the kids clothes together to get them ready for the day and I just started crying. It finally hit me..or maybe I finally let it. I was able to attend a couple of nights of the rosary at his home. With his family, my parents and childhood friends. It gave me a little bit of a sense of peace. Please continue to pray for his family.

After we arrived back in Houston a very good friend of mine informed me her Dad passed away on New Years Eve. My heart broke. Both of these people I viewed as family. This friend of mine and her parents were along side of my parents at court for Landon’s adoption day. After hearing this news, I just lost it on New Years Day.

It was yet another reminder about how life is too short. Both of these men were God fearing men, faithful, kind, givers, selfless….leaving behind such amazing families. I couldn’t help but ask why them?

I’ve been processing this all behind the screen. I’m not at all sharing this because I want sympathy for myself (although I would appreciate it if you could say a prayer for the families. For God to wrap them in love and strength during this time). I didn’t even really know if I should share this here because I felt like it wasn’t my information to share but yesterday Brandon said “you know, it’s okay for you to be sad for you too” and then I just got this overwhelming feeling to share a piece of reality with you all.

If you watched my stories last week or this weekend, you would not have known any of this. It’s easy to share the fun stuff. The hard stuff, not so much.

In the time of year where social media plasters “fresh starts” and “thankful for the best year of my life” all in our faces I just want to say, if any of you are going through a tough time right now, please know you are not alone. I did’t intend for my first post of the year to be a downer but it also didn’t feel right to just throw out any other post when my heart was so heavy right now.

I love ya’ll so much. I feel like I am just rambling now so I’ll end this post here. Praying for all who are going through it right now. May God wrap his arms around you and bring you peace and blessings for the year to come.

Love, Roselyn
