This past Sunday we celebrated our sweet baby boy’s first birthday with our family and friends. It was the best day having our loved ones over to celebrate him. You all know I can only share so much but today I do want to share his cute little candy shop themed party along with some photos of the amazing people he has in his life.
Life has gotten so much sweeter since he entered into our lives so Baby Weaver’s Candy Shop seemed like the perfect theme!
We got this bounce house from Sky High Party Rentals and I love how it went with the theme perfectly!
2 Free People Pieces That Are Essential For Spring & Summer
Happy Friday!
Spring is basically here! Well at least for most of us. (Sorry my sweet friends still experiencing snow storms. What in the world?!)
You all know I love me some Free People. Some of their items can get really pricey but their basics are so affordable, such great quality and today I am sharing 2 pieces that I think every gal needs in her spring/summer wardrobe!
This dress would be so perfect for a date night out but our getting dressed up date nights are a little non existent right now so I’ll just be a little extra at the office. 🙂
Okay so October used to be my favorite month because my birthday DUH but March is officially my new favorite!
Baby Weaver turns one this month and there are so many firsts for our little family that I cannot contain my excitement!
Outfit Details: Dress: ASOS (this sold out so fast! I’m so sorry! I literally just bought it and shot it last week! I am linking similar options below) | Sandals: Steve Madden | Sunglasses: Target | Beach Tote: Honeymoon Hats
First of all, let’s talk about what Yash and I had to do to get the perfect shot with those flowers. We were in the middle of downtown and I just wanted a shot in front of some trees or by some flowers. Low and behold we found a patch of colorful, freshly bloomed flowers in front of an office building. So what do I do? Stand in the middle of the flower bed, duh. LOL. Don’t worry I did not step or kill any flowers for this shot. I was very careful on where I stepped. Did we get asked to leave by security? Maybe. But that’s not what we are talking about today 🙂
Soooo….baby’s first birthday, YAY! I cannot believe our little man is turning one and I cannot believe we were given such a wonderful blessing to get to experience so many firsts with him. His sitting up on his own, eating baby food for the first time, learning to crawl, his laughing…Yes, I’m going to pretend he didn’t know laughter until me 🙂
To celebrate we are taking his sweet and oh so deserving self to….DISNEY WORLD!!!! It will be all of our first time in Florida and Disneyworld. I am so crazy excited I just can’t hide it! I actually have to be in Florida for work the week following his birthday so Brandon, baby and I will just fly out a little early for a birthday trip vacay!
I’m not sure if I told you guys but baby is obsessed with Elena of Avalor. Not sure how Brandon and him stumbled across it but it has quicky become his favorite. I joked that all the boys would be in line for Mickey and we are going to be in line with all the little princess girls waiting to meet Elena. Well played baby Weaver, well played.
Another first is happening this weekend. We are having a family date to the Houston Rodeo! Yay! Fried oreos for mama, petting some farm animals for baby and Brandon better win me a stuffed animal this time! 🙂
Also, this just occurred to me…does baby Weaver need his first pair of cowboy boots now? lol
Sorry for not getting this post up yesterday! Our little man got ear tubes put in yesterday so we were getting our snuggle time in basically all day! And I’m not gonna lie. I napped both times he napped, haha! It’s amazing how fast they do the procedure! It literally was only like 15 minutes and he is back to his normal routine today and mama is back at work!
Today I am sharing a pair of pants that I have been loving and wearing over and over. I bought them in both colors because I love the fit so much.
As you can see, it’s a super simple switch of the shoes and bag to take this look from work to the weekend! Denim jacket optional but I love the contrast of the yellow with the distressed denim so I decided to add that to my look as well. Also, you could wear a blazer over the cami for your work look. FYI- I am wearing a size 4 petite in these Loft pants. I neeeever wear a petite in anything because it typically doesn’t fit right. I tried on both styles in store and I liked the way the petite fit better. Just wanted to let you know that in case you plan on ordering online.
I hope you guys are having a great week so far. The weather in Houston has been so beautiful so we will definitely be sure to get a lot of outside time this week! Speaking of good weather, I shared some cute spring/summer baby boy outfits on my instagram stories last night. OMG, soooo cute! I was just realizing that he got baby Weaver when Houston was in the middle of a winter freeze so we haven’t even put him in shorts or in a baby tank top (omg, I could die!) yet! So naturally I have been shopping for his spring wardrobe 🙂 I’ll continue to share on stories!
5 Date Night Ideas That Don’t Require A Babysitter
Happy Monday love bugs!
Thank you all so much for reading last Friday’s post talking all about the fun stuff to do in Atlanta. One of the things that I loved about our trip was that it felt like we were on a continuous date day/date night since we were exploring and trying out new eateries all week long!
I’m sure all of you mamas know how hard it is sometimes to fit in a date night but we have been especially struggling with it because of our situation with baby Weaver. Since everything isn’t officially finalized yet, we can’t even leave him with a family member or close friend without them filling out paperwork and getting an FBI background check. No, I’m not kidding. I have the most loving girlfriend’s you guys and they have all asked to watch baby while Brandon and I go on a date night. And even though they said they don’t mind doing the paperwork and background check, I still really hate for them to have to go through all of that. Even when my family came in December, they had to get fingerprints done as soon as they got here and all that jazz. It is kind of annoying because here they are, the most kind people, flying thousands of miles to love on baby Weaver and I’m like “hey Mom, can you sign this paper first?’.
I mean, I get it. I see why the system has to enforce processes like this but when it’s personally happening to you and you personally know that your family member’s are genuinely good people, it starts to get you a little. Just being honest.
So anyway, something that I think is so important is “dating your spouse”. We get so caught up in life that it is so important that you put aside time for your spouse to keep that spark. Yes, we spend time at home together talking about our work day or things that we need to do but I love enjoying that quality time just laughing not thinking about a to do list and just enjoying each other. With our son and no babysitter, I thought it would be a good idea to recap some ideas to have a “date night” with your precious child in tow!
1- Try out new restaurants- I love this because Houston is constantly opening something new. You should know by now that I am a big foodie so eating is always at the top of my agenda. Grab the hubby and baby to try out a new brunch spot!
2- Invite friends over that have kids- Order in some yummy food and enjoy some board games while the kiddos play.
3- Go on a road trip or take a staycation- Just getting out of the house feels like an adventure. It doesn’t even have to be a trip to somewhere far but exploring new spots with your spouse always brings excitement! Plus the watching the baby discover new things makes my heart melt!
4- Beach stroll and sunset dinner- something about being on the beach is always romantic. We haven’t taken baby to one yet so I think it would be so fun to take him on a little beach stroll and then have dinner at a nearby restaurant while the sun sets. Plus that’s like bed time so he may fall asleep while we are having dinner LOL
5- Netflix and Chill- Sometimes after a long and exhausting week at work, you just want to put on your jammies and relax. Grab all of your favorite movie time snacks and snuggle up with your honey. This is great to do after baby goes to bed so you can have your one on one time.
*BONUS- If you are in Houston, the perfect date day would be taking the little one to the rodeo. This is something we do each year together anyway so it will be nice to keep the tradition with the baby!
I hope you enjoyed today’s post and I want to hear all of your date night with kid’s ideas too please!
Happy Friday friends! I wanted to recap our recent anniversary trip to Atlanta. Also, so many of you sweet locals sent over your recommendations so even if we weren’t able to make it there, I am listing them below for those of you who are planning an upcoming trip to Atlanta!
So the majority of the pictures we took (like all 500 of them) show baby Weaver’s face and since I can’t share him with you guys yet I don’t have too many photos to share with you today LOL but I promise the recommendations of what to do and where to go will make up for it!
Where to Shop:
Ponce City Market– Filled with national retailers and also local shops. The food hall has a wide variety of eats too! Skyline Park is located atop the Ponce City Market. It’s like a carnival style vibe with a beer garden and pretty views!
Georgia Aquarium – I had no idea but apparently this is the #1 aquarium in the US
World of Coke– So cool to see the evolution of the brand. I love that you can taste 100 flavors from all over the world but of course I just kept getting refills of the one that taste like pink starburst! Baby had his first sip of Coke but he’s not about that life, lol.
CNN Studio Tour– This sounded like a fun thing to do and it’s included in the city pass but I want to forewarn you. The tour consists of 8 flights of stairs and no elevator option so we opted out. Carrying a 25 pound human down 8 flights of stairs with 50 other people just wasn’t on the agenda that day!
Zoo Atlanta– I was way more excited to see the panda and gorillas than baby was, haha! But it was so fun taking him to the zoo for the first time. They have twin pandas there so of course we left with a panda stuffed toy 🙂
*all of the attractions above are included in the city pass. I would recommend purchasing one if you plan on visiting the majority of these spots.
Jimmy Carter Library
Martin Luther King Museum
Atlanta Belt Line- We didn’t get to go but many of you said it was a fun spot to rent a bike and ride on a pretty day!
Where We Stayed:
Stay Alfred at The Office – You guys, Brandon booked this (per usual) and it was the most stunning place and the views were phenomenal. All of the walls were covered in windows and I was just like #natuallightinggoals. I highly recommend this spot if you are traveling to Atlanta soon! So chic and contemporary so it had a lot of space for baby to crawl around. It is one of those properties that people actually live in and then they reserve some units for hotel stays.
It was such a great first anniversary trip with baby Weaver. I can’t wait for more to come! I hope you guys enjoyed today’s post.
These days are flying by you guys but I am so excited for all things March! First of all it’s our son’s birthday month so we are excited to celebrate him basically like everyday 🙂
As promised I am sharing the top 10 selling items from the blog in the month of February.
Polka Dot And Pearl Mini Tea Dress | This is such a classic dress and I love the pearl detail. If you haven’t purchased it yet, I recommend sizing up one size!
Skip Hop Simply Chic Diaper Bag | This backpack is soooo stinkin’ cute! So cute that my girlfriend text me the other day to ask me where I got it because she wanted one. P.S. she’s not a mama 🙂
Pearl Adorned Anorak | Such a great lightweight jacket and I love it for traveling because it is easy to pack and throw on! And it has pearls!
T3 Convertible Styling Wand | This made the top 10 sellers last month too! So glad to hear you guys think it is worth the splurge too!
Faux Gucci Belt | I shared this on Monday’s post and it is so dang good girls! It is very hard to tell the difference between the real and this dupe. So glad you guys aren’t hating on the faux designer look because you are buying them up like crazy. I’m typically not a faux designer gal but this one was too good to pass up!
Adidas T-Shirt Dress | The perfect throw on and go on dress! And you can buy this outfit and match your mini, duh 🙂
Articles of Society Denim | I don’t have many non distressed denim but I do scour Nordstrom for them every once in a while for the office. These fit so great and run tru to size.
Marc Fisher Wedges | Definitely a must have shoe for Spring. These adorable ones come in 9 color ways and run true to size.
Studded Strappy Heels | So happy to hear you all love shoes as much as I do 🙂 These are so cute and somewhat of a Valentino dupe as well!
Levi’s Baby Jeans | Eek, clearly you all agree that all things baby are so cute! These Levi’s are only $20 and this is my favorite retailer to shop for his clothes!
If you were wondering what the heck we were doing in Atlanta two weekends ago, we were actually celebrating our 4 year wedding anniversary! Every year we pick a state that we have never been to and we go celebrate there! It’s such a fun tradition because it typically takes us to a place we probably wouldn’t have gone otherwise. This long weekend of celebrating/exploring is supposed to be our gift to eachother but if you have been following me for some time now, you know that I love buying people gifts so naturally I always surprise Brandon with just a little something extra each year!
On our first anniversary I started using the traditional anniversary gift calendar to get creative on what to get Brandon every month. Year 4 is silk and it ended up being my favorite because I got to incorporate our little guy!
Brandon wears ties all the time so I decided to buy some silk fabric to get some custom ties made for him and matching bow ties for our son! Omg, I thought that was the cutest idea ever…until I saw how much silk was LOL. Anyway, I still bought it and our alterations place actually made them for me! She was like “this is going to be really expensive, you should try buying them already made”. Well one, I was having the hardest time finding a tie and bow tie set. It was either 2 bow ties for Dad and son or 2 reg ties for Dad and son. Brandon won’t wear a bow tie and baby looks so cute in them so having them custom made is what I decided to do. How cute are these?!
I want to get a matching scarf made now because I’m jelly LOL. I’ll let my bank account recover first!
If your 4 year wedding anniversary is approaching, I am linking some other fun silk gift ideas below!
Sleep Mask – Gift a sleep mask, make your spouse breakfast in bed and tell them they can sleep in.
Silk robe- Gift a silk robe with a spa day scheduled!
Silk Pillow Cases & Sheets- He may not appreciate what a silk pillow case does for your hair and skin but I’m sure you can think of a way to get him excited about silk sheets!
Clothing- Buy each other clothing like one of these ties for him or a silk dress for her and enjoy each other at a nice dinner.
Hi guys! I hope you all had an amazing weekend! I wanted to pop on today and give you all an update on my lash life LOL and also talk about this perfect work look!
