Happy Tuesday guys!
Our home is currently still safe and dry from Hurricane Harvey. Thank the Lord. Seriously, I feel so fortunate to still have power and running water. We still expect more, approximately 8-10″, of rain today. Praying for the rain to stop so everyone effected can just begin their road to rebuilding. Yesterday I listed a few ways you can donate and as I am updated on different ways to give I’ll be sure to continue to share those with you. Today Kendra Scott will donate 50% of online purchases to the American Red Cross to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Some people may find it silly that I am still continuing to keep my blog posts updated but honestly I am doing everything I can to keep myself busy. Brandon and I are still attending to our full time jobs via email and phone but both offices are currently shut down due to Hurricane Harvey. Apparently my office had received up to 8 feet of water as of yesterday morning. We are doing all we can to keep ourselves occupied until we can leave our house and help our friends and fellow Houstonians in need.
Yesterday I did an at home workout. It was raining so I couldn’t run and I don’t really have equipment at my house so today I am sharing a full body workout that you can do at home with no equipment. You can do one round or if you are feeling strong you can repeat!

Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to us. All of our friends and family outside of Texas are seeing the devastation on the news and so worried about us so I just wanted to give everyone an update. Brandon, Tex, Cali and I are safe. Uncle Jon and his kids, Seth and Skyler, have been staying with us all weekend riding out Hurricane Harvey. We have been glued to the news as we watch so much of our city under water. It is heartbreaking you guys. What’s so scary is that the hard rain just started on Friday and by yesterday AM most of the city was flooded. That’s how much rain we have gotten in a short amount of time.
Last night we had our first scare of water getting in the house. It rained so hard in Pasadena that the water in the backyard and in the street started getting backed up. Brandon had to breakdown part of our fence in the back to help the water drain into another part of the yard. We laid down bags of mulch that we had to stop the water from getting in the house. We are some of the lucky ones guys. So many of our friends have received water in their homes and we continuously are watching people still being rescued from their neighborhoods and homes that are filled with 4-5 feet of water.
Pray for Texas please. We expect more rain for the next couple of days. Pray for everyone affected, for our amazing first responders; police officers, firefighters, the coast guard and the amazing citizens of Houston. Yesterday they asked anyone with a boat if they would be willing to come out and help rescue people in need. You guys, it was amazing to watch these people on the news coming out to help on their boats, jet skis and kayaks. I know I am a Californian at heart but these Texans are pretty awesome.
Shelters have been open to people who have had to evacuate and clothing and food donations are already flowing through. If you would like to help here are a few different ways to donate:
If you can’t donate funds, here is a list of shelters that need not only toiletries, baby formula/food, diapers, towels, water and non perishable but they are in need of volunteers.
Lastly, Texas will take all the prayers we can get. Prayers are powerful! Also, once Harvey decides he’s ready to leave find a friend or neighbor that needs help cleaning out their home. I’m sure a helping hand will be very much appreciated.
Again, thank you all so much for your messages and calls. I’ll continue to keep everyone update.
Love, Roselyn
Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend!
I struggled with what to title this post. I started with “Not So Mellow Yellow”, “More Than A Pretty Picture”, “Stressed AF” 🙂 I figured I’d shy away from the cute catchy title this time and just tell it exactly how I’m feeling it. Actually “Stressed AF” would have done the job too but than Mom would have asked me what that meant and I didn’t want to have to explain that one to her LOL
Hello friends, old and new!
If you have been reading the blog for some time now you know I love meeting new people! So you can understand my excitement when Bumble BFF asked me to partner up with them to advertise their app.
My first 3 thoughts? 1- what a genius idea! 2-Dang, why didn’t I think of that? 3- Finally, I get to swipe left and right! haha 🙂
Honestly, I think the concept is such a great idea. Actually writing an entire blog post wasn’t even part of our agreement but I am so for this app that I felt compelled to write more than my Instagram would allow me words!
4 Reasons You Should Sign Up For the Bumble BFF app
How do you sign up for the BumbleBFF app?
1- Just go to your app store and search BumbleBFF.
2- Once the app is downloaded it will ask you to sign in with some basic info or you can sign in through your Facebook page.
3-Make sure you take the time to fill in your short bio and some of your interests so the app can find you some new gal pals with the same interests.
**Warning: if you are happily married like myself be careful not to accidentally sign up for Bumble, the dating app. It’s essentially the same app so just don’t sign up for the dating site accidentally, lol.

Story of my life: walk into Target for one household item….come out with 5 Who What Wear outfits 🙂
A few months ago during a meeting I shared an “email etiquette checklist” with my team. I’ve been composing emails for…well a very long time LOL. That doesn’t make me an expert, that actually probably makes me more prone to making mistakes because I have to send and respond to so many emails a day and then when I get home add all of my blog emails on top of that which I send at all hours of the night. A checklist is a must have for me.
I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve received from brands that didn’t use proper punctuations and goodness sometimes even complete sentences. Even worse is when they don’t even spell my name right. I mean I know we are all very busy and I may have been the 100th person the brand emailed that day but a simple “did I spell her name right?” check would have went a long way.
In the corporate world it is equally as important to use a simple checklist and though there are so many reasons why this is important the number one thing I have learned along the way is you never know who your email is going to be forwarded to. I could send a list of action items to the field and somehow that gets circulated and sent to my Senior VP of Operations. Am I nervous that it got sent to her? No. Why? Because my email had a purpose. It was very clear who my email was directed to, it told them exactly what needed to be done, it gave them a deadline and it was professional.
Below I am sharing a very simple checklist on making sure your professionalism shines through in your emails.
Why is email etiquette important?
What to check before you hit send?
A Simple Checklist to the Perfect Email
I know we are all very busy so sometimes we respond to emails “on the fly” but it is so important to take a few minutes to ensure we are communicating properly. Your little email might go a long way.
Also, a fun action item I had my team do is quickly pull 2 random emails they sent in the past week and check it against this list. Did it pass? 🙂
Thank you for reading today guys and I hope this checklist helps!
