Committing to ride 35 miles is no easy task, but neither is living with Diabetes.
As some of you may know, I signed up to ride in ADA’s 25th Tour de Cure event this year. Am I an avid cyclist? No. Do I have diabetes? No. So why did I sign up to ride you ask? Because over 29 million people in the United States alone have diabetes. Because on top of that 29 million, 86 million more have been diagnosed with prediabetes. There’s a good chance that you know someone that is living with Diabetes today.
The American Diabetes Association is a 501(C)3 nonprofit charity fighting against diabetes. The ADA launched its research programs in 1952 and in 1991 began Tour de Cure, the largest cycling event for diabetes in the country. This event is held in 40 states nationwide and I will be riding in Houston on October 1st.
For those of you who know me personally, know that I don’t ride outside of a 45 minute spin class so the fact that I signed up for an outdoor 35 mile ride may sound crazy, but so did the 39 mile walk for the Avon Walk Against Breast Cancer. Yes, that was quite rough, but I made it through.
I feel extremely impelled to participate in events like this. Little ole me alone can’t make a huge difference, but with you and your spouse along with your cousin and your cousin’s friend and your cousin’s friends neighbor can totally make a difference. So today I am asking for your help to support the ADA and the Tour de Cure event.
Here are 3 ways you can help:
1- Ride with me: Come join me for a fun morning on October 1st and help raise funds towards a great cause. I understand not everyone will be able to participate in the cycling event but no worries! Myself and ADA can still use your help with options 2 and 3 below.
If you can’t donate monetarily:
3-I am also managing my company’s silent auction event that is held September 19th this year. As I have been fortunate enough to work with some amazing Houston businesses like: Kendra Scott Baybook, MKT Bar, Phoenicia Foods, Revolution Studio and many more that have donated items and/or baskets to be auctioned off, I am still gathering items for the event. So if you own a business or know someone who does this is a great way to get involved. Auction item(s) just needs to be donated and again all funds collected from this event go to the ADA. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information! 🙂
Thank you all SO much for taking your time to read my blog. I feel so loved by your ongoing support with my brand. I hope, we together, can help support this amazing association and all the things that they stand for and do!
Happy Sunday loves! Wishing you all a great weekend! Please feel free to share if you can. All is appreciated!!
**Thank you Verity for the super cute romper and my sweet friend Marissa of CAMM Photography for loaning me the bike for my photos! If you can in the Houston area be sure to check out CAMM Photography!
