5 Reasons You Should Book A Carnival Cruise For Your Next Family Vacation

It’s probably no surprise that The Weaver crew loves to travel! Brandon and I started traveling together as soon as we got married. I remember the care free days of being able to do whatever we wanted on vacation without a bossy toddler ruling the day! Lol, actually Landon isn’t bossy but he sure does rule all of our days!

Getting to see the world through your child’s eyes is truly a special thing but I know you parents out there know that planning (and packing) for a trip with kids is a little more work than just planning a relaxing beach vacation for you and your husband. Relaxing? Like what does that even mean when you are on vacation with a toddler right?! Ha!

Well, thanks to Carnival Vista Brandon and I were able to relax on our vacation all while Landon was living his best life as well! Today I am sharing what each of our favorite things were on Carnival Vista and warning after reading this, you may want to book your next family vacation with them too!

why-you-should-take-a-carnival-cruise

Landon’s 4 Favorite Things About Carnival Vista

1. The Arcade – I actually did not even know our ship had an arcade on it until we boarded. We came across it the first hour and I didn’t know how I was going to get Landon out of there! I’m sure I had to bribe him with immediate pool time lol. The arcade is super convenient because all you have to do is swipe your room key. No quarters needed!

2. Waterworks– The splash area and water slides are a hit with the kids! I mean, duh! But when I am on vacation I could just sit at the pool or beach all day long so when Landon wanted to spend hours at Waterworks during our sea days, mama was totally cool with that!

3. Camp Ocean– This is Carnival’s on site child care facility that has summer camp like activities for kids of all ages! To be totally honest I kind of felt guilty bringing him there the first time because mom guilt had me all “shouldn’t we all be together every second because it’s a family trip?”. You mama’s know how that goes. So the first day I brought him to Camp Ocean I literally dropped him off for an hour while I went to the gym and Brandon watched the football game and then I rushed to picked him up.

Well let me tell you! All Landon could talk about was his new friends and drawing and toy trucks and singing and dancing with “all the kids”! My mom guilt immediately went away and he was back for a few hours almost every sea day so that Brandon and I could also get in some quality time! Needless to say Camp Ocean was something the whole family appreciated!

4. Miniature Golf– Yes, you read that right! There was a miniature golf course on the top deck and it was one of Landon’s favorite things to do on the Carnival Vista.

Brandon’s 4 Favorite Things About Carnival Vista

1. The Movie Theatre– If you know Brandon, you know he loves the movies! We hardly ever get to go these days so he was pretty stoked when he find out there was a theater on board! He went to watch a movie one evening when Landon and I were having a mommy/son date! AKA eating ice cream and going to the arcade.

**didn’t get a photo of Brandon at the movies LOL

2. Pool Area with the Big Screen– The first Sunday was a sea day so Brandon got to enjoy all the football games under the sun and poolside with Landon and I right there enjoying all the snacks with him and the pool 🙂 If you go to my Carnival Instagram story highlights you can see a pretty funny story of Brandon there.

carnival-cruise

3. The Roomy Cabin with a Balcony– I mentioned that Brandon and I started traveling as soon as we got married. Actually our honeymoon was on a 10 day Western Mediterranean cruise. It was AMAZING! I guess you could say we were already fans of the cruise life but what we did not enjoy on that cruise was the tiny cabin we had. I mean it was small. We even joke today about how that was our first time being together literally 24/7 for that many days straight and in close quarters so we didn’t know if we were gonna make it LOL. Totally kidding of course! But we could not get over how roomy our cabin was on Carnival Vista and if you check out my IG highlights I do a room tour to share all of the great storage space too! So awesome! When I was asking Brandon to give me his favorite things for this blog post, the room was the first thing he mentioned.

4. The Steakhouse – we got to enjoy a nice steak dinner, a Japanese fusion dinner and a really great Italian dinner night but Brandon was most excited about the steakhouse experience. The food was great and the chef even came and prepared an extra special dessert table side.

My Favorite Things On Carnival Vista

Okay I saved my list for last because I loved so many things about the cruise! In addition to all of the things that Brandon and Landon loved, I really enjoyed the amenities on the Carnival Vista like the spa. the gym, the coffee shops, the different eateries, the fact that you could grab a bite at the main buffet for free at almost any time because that food and drink is all included in your ticket, etc. Instead of rounding up the 50 things I loved LOL, I’m going to round up 5 reasons a Carnival Cruise is such a great option for your next family vacation!

5 Reasons You Should Make Carnival Vista Your Next Family Vacation

1. So Much Less Stressful To Plan– Once you have your Carnival Cruise booked, you can sit back and relax! Seriously! There are so many things to do on the ship that your whole family will be able to find fun activities to keep them occupied. Your main meals and basic beverages are all included in your ticket. If you want to do any additional dining at the other restaurants all you have to do is dial in for dinner reservations once you are on board and they will take care of you. Also, if you want to do excursions at your stops you can book it through your app or wait until you board and speak with the team to help you plan based on your interests and the age group of your children!

2. Camp Ocean – this made Landon’s list but it was definitely on the top of Brandon and my list too. To get a date night in while we are on vacation?! That’s another level of magical let me tell you! And it’s not just a babysitting service. They are doing super fun activities with the kids that your little ones will be begging to go back! And what does that mean for you? Ummm, another date night! Also to be noted, Camp Ocean provides you with a cell phone so that they can call you or you can call them if needed.

3. The Nice Gym– I so appreciated that the ship had a nice facility to get in my workout while on vacation. I was not holding back from any of the good food or cocktails so I was definitely at the gym regularly. If you like to workout than have no fear that the Vista has a really nice facility.

4. Seeing Multiple & Equally Beautiful Locations in One Trip – We did the 7 day Western Caribbean cruise departing from Galveston, Texas. We got to enjoy 3 beautiful destinations.

Mahogany Bay where we opted for an all inclusive beach day. All beverages and food were included on this “excursion”. I put excursion in quotes because literally we just relaxed at the beautiful beach all day, ate, drank and swam 🙂 #thebest

Belize – this day we did the Mayan Temples. We told the excursion team that we really wanted to do the temples but we also had a 2 and half year old lol. They helped us pick the most toddler friendly one. It was so fun and a great experience. I even let Landon climb to the top of one of the temples with me.

Cozumel – our last stop and we opted for another all inclusive beach day. You also could do snorkeling and swim with the dolphins at the resort we went to. There was a cute park on the beach too. Probably one of our favorite days.

5. The Fact That They Had Activities For The Whole Family To Love– refer back to Landon and Brandon’s list. Not only did they have the arcade, ice cream shop, movie theaters and camp ocean but they had Dr.Seuss theme events, family game nights, adult comedy shows, Martini making class and so much more!

I just could not recommend Carnival Vista enough! Full disclosure: I am so thankful they asked to partner up with us to experience this cruise. I was asked to share my honest opinion on only Instagram but because we all loved the trip so much I wanted to share more details about it in a full blog post!

I hope I answered any questions you guys might have had about taking a cruise! If you have any other questions or comments, please feel free to drop them below!

Adoption

Landon’s Gotcha Day

Ahhhh! I cannot believe it has taken me so long to share all of our adoption day photos and sweet video that my friend Yash at Banavenue Photography did for us! But I guess no better time than now since November is National Adoption Month!

September 27th, 2019 – Gotcha Day

Gotcha Day” is a term for the anniversary of the day on which a person joins a family by adoption. It’s also referred to as adoption day and family day. I’m sure there are a ton of other terms as well but these are the 3 terms I hear the most.

Landon was first brought home to us on November 6th, 2017. As you all know we had a few scary moments when we thought we would not be his forever home but finally the last 3 months of the almost 2 years of waiting to finalize I was feeling some sort of relief and really just waiting for our “Gotcha Day” to be scheduled. I was so over the moon when the judge finally got us on the calendar in September and so was our family!

Finally 690 days later….

Yash was so sweet to put together this video as a gift. I am so happy with the way he did it. Obviously there was a lot of personal info shared during the court date, Landon’s birth parents’ names, Landon’s full birth name so we want to respect their privacy and left all of the talking out of the video.

However, I will tell you the 2 things that had me ugly crying. Actually I was ugly crying all morning lol but the 2 things that made me cry even more was when the judge called me up to the stand and started asking me things like “do you promise to love and take care of Landon as if he was born to you?”, “do you think that Landon being in your home is in his best interest?”. I couldn’t help but be so thankful that God had chosen me to be his mama. I am so grateful that I was given this amazing title. Sometimes I can’t help but think about his story before us but then I have to remember we were all a part of this happy ending and even though we don’t always understand the journey, it is all part of the reason.

And the second thing that had me crying was at the end of the hearing the judge asked us three to come behind the bench with her and then introduced as for the first time OFFICIALLY….THE WEAVER FAMILY! I totally cried because I realized it was really, truly, finally, actually OFFICIAL!

DIY Baby Shower Bath Time Gift Basket

You all know I love an easy and fun DIY baby shower gift! Today we are partnering up with Walmart to share a really cute and affordable DIY gift basket. This one is bath time themed and I have done some extravagant ones back in my day but I really wanted to share an affordable one to show that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to make something super special that the recipient will be totally grateful for!

DIY-Baby-Shower-Gift-Basket

Items I Used To Make This DIY Baby Shower Gift Basket:

  1. Woven Basket
  2. Bath Time Squirt Toys
  3. Baby Lotion
  4. Baby Shampoo
  5. Baby Bubble Bath
  6. Teddy Bear
  7. Swaddle Blankets or Burp Cloths (optional)
  8. Hooded Towels (optional)
  9. Baby Blanket
  10. Q-Tips
  11. Baby Book (optional)
  12. Bath Bombs (optional)
  13. Iridescent Treat Bag (optional for bath bombs)

There are so many ways to make a bath time themed gift basket. As you can see I played around a bit with the placement of the items as I went. The baby books, burp cloths and wash cloths are all optional but I like to use them to help with the placement of the items and it helps with visual appeal of the basket 🙂

I found all of my items at Walmart and used a lot of their private label, Parent’s Choice, items because we have been really liking that line plus it’s all super affordable. I linked them all below but you can add any other items to customize your basket. Walmart’s baby department has so many options!

DIY-Baby-Shower-Bath-Time-Basket

Special touches – The hair towel which is actually a burp cloth on the teddy bear is a super cute added touch that brings together the theme of the gift basket. Another special touch are the bath bombs that look like little bubbles for your bath time gift basket. Those can be added as a little gift for mama so that she can use them when she gets some alone time. There are kid friendly bath bombs but I definitely don’t think they are recommended for newborn babies or really any kid’s under 2 so I would suggest just putting adult ones in the gift basket and letting mama know they are for her!

I hope you all love this super easy and affordable gift basket idea as much as I loved making it!

Travel Outfits To Hawaii

Aloha from Hawaii friends! We are so happy to be in Hawaii for our first time! It’s so beautiful and everyone is so kind! I’m keeping today’s post short and sweet today but wanted to share all of our travel outfit deets from yesterday and little more about why we are here and how long we’ll be on this beautiful island!

airport-outfits

Outfits Details: My Sweatshirt: American Eagle | Leopard Biker Shorts: American Eagle (wearing a medium) | Shoes: Nordstrom | Landon’s Button Up: Target | Landon’s Joggers: Target | Leopard Jordan’s: Finish Line ( I would recommend sizing up for your little guys)

Yes I finally gave into the biker short trend and I freakin’ love it! I loved seeing it on everyone else but I didn’t think I would love it on me. I put my first pair on and I was sold! They are as comfortable as leggings but not as hot, duh Roselyn lol. I am in love with these leopard ones and I also packed these black ones. And can we take a minute to talk about little man’s leopard Jordan’s? So dang cute!

Oh! I am also getting a ton of questions on the black Louis Vuitton bag I was carrying in this photo. You all know I am constantly stalking the Fashionphile site for bags I am obsessing over. They are constantly updating their inventory so I will link the site to black crossbody LV’s here!

I am also wearing the black and white Adidas I just bought the day before at the San Mateo, CA mall. I wasn’t really sharing on stories this past weekend because I was 100% sick and I had a 75% voice which is so not fun when traveling with a toddler! But anyway, we flew into Oakland, CA on Friday and stayed over 2 nights. We didn’t get to do as much as we planned because sick mama over here but did squeeze in a little shopping and In and Out burgers of course! 🙂 We originally decided to do the Oakland overnight stays because with out Southwest flights flying into Kona, Hawaii we would have had to fly almost 4 hours from Houston to Oakland, get on another 5 hour flight to Honolulu and then another one hour flight to Kona. Honestly, that was way too many connecting flights for a sick mama and her toddler so I am so glad Brandon planned it this way!

We are in Hawaii for the Feast of Tabernacles. It’s an every year celebration for our church. I won’t get too into the details today but if you are interested you can read more about it here. 🙂 We will be in Kona for a little over a week and I am so glad Brandon’s Mom decided to come with us too. Landon is loving having her here and she’s so helpful with him! Brandon and I will even get to go on a few day dates. Trying to get him to go surfing with me. I’ll let you know how that goes 🙂 After FOT, Brandon, Landon and I will head to Honolulu for about a week and enjoy some more fun in the sun!

I’ll be sure to share our favorite things on stories!

Mahalo!

Runway To Real Life: Western Inspired Animal Prints

Fashion Week really fuels my fashionista soul! I feel like I always just leave so inspired, feeling renewed and wanting to do & share all the things! 🙂 I know sometimes the fashion that we see on the runway seems so over the top but just remember that the couture we see on the runway also becomes inspiration for other street wear and contemporary designers to design clothing that we common folk 🙂 can wear in our everyday life. So maybe we wouldn’t all wear that poofy, oversized cow print dress with a 4 foot long train to our next brunch date but some might be inspired by the print itself and want to incorporate it into their everyday life.

The western inspired cow and zebra print at the Chiari Boni show did exactly that for me last month. My Texas gals will be happy that Chiari Boni is bringing the rodeo to Spring and Summuer 2020! She displayed the most beautiful western inspired collection (in addition to a colorful collection that I will share later!) and it made me want to incorporate cow print into my wardrobe immediately! So as soon as I got home I ordered this top and this bag and I have no regrets!

Dr. Scholl’s Wedge Booties Styled 4 Ways

I shared these cute booties last week but when my Dad was in town he was telling me that his doctor had recommended that he get some Dr.Scholl’s shoes. I immediately told him that I had just gotten a pair of boots and he was shook. I feel like there is this stigma about Dr. Scholls footwear being comfy and supportive but not cute. After Dad’s reaction I felt like I needed to share them again! I am here to confirm that the Dr.Scholl’s shoe styles are super comfortable but really cute too!

Below I share 4 ways to style the Close Call Wedge Booties. And for referece, I am wearing my true size 7.

10 Firsts With Our Sweet Son

Happy Monday dear friends! What an amazing weekend we had! As you probably know by now by the blowing up of my Instagram stories, our adoption is finally FINAL! Ahhhhh! We are so so happy right now. And we are so thankful a lot of our family was able to come in for our special day.

The moment they introduced us for the first time, officially as the Weaver family. OMG, crying all over again. I kept thinking that after almost 2 years I maybe I wouldn’t cry on the day of the finalization. Boy was I wrong. My sister was like, “you were standing there fine and then the tears starting starting rolling down your cheeks so fast”. I am so thankful Yash was there to capture it all. I cannot wait to watch the video from that point of view and to share it with all of you!

I waited exactly 683 days to share our sweet Landon’s face with you but whose counting LOL . So basically I have a million and one pictures I need to catch up on for those 683 days 🙂 Today I want to share 10 of our “firsts” with you!

baby-firsts-moments

1. Our First Night Together

November 6, 2017

I remember opening the door for the first time when the CPS case worker brought our sweet Landon home. I thought he was the sweetest boy I had ever seen! My second thought was “did they get his age wrong?” LOL! He was a big 7 month old!

When I put him to bed that night I just stared at him like “we are so meant to be”. It was like he was always there.

2. Our First Target Trip

November 7, 2017

Naturally we were at Target on our second day together 🙂 Of course to buy us matching outfits and also because we found ourselves at the store every day that week since we literally had NOTHING the day we got our placement phone call. You can read more about that whirlwind of a day in this blog post.

And then of course I had to bring him home and do his first photoshoot LOL

3. Our First Family Photo

Omg, this photo makes me so happy! So many of our friends came to see us that weekend and my best friend Rach was like “let me take a family photo of you guys”. I hadn’t even thought about it because I had just been snapping pics of him all week. Thanks Rach!!

4. Our First Thanksgiving

We actually went to his aunts house that year to celebrate Thanksgiving but we decided to cook a full on Thanksgiving feast at our house as well. Even if it was just the 3 of us, we felt like we had to since it was our first Thanksgiving as a family of 3. 🙂

  2. Diaper Sacks– Speaking of airplane bathrooms, don’t be that person that changes their baby’s number 2 diaper and just throws it in the trash for everyone to suffer, lol. These bags are so nice to throw in your purse or diaper bag. Everyone will thank you.
  3. Frida Baby Skin Soother – I used to pack our baby wash cloths and then discovered this! OMG, not only does Landon love it but you don’t have to dirty the hotel wash cloths or pack any! It dries super fast and you can even say goodbye to your wash cloth laundry at home too!
  4. Umbrella Stroller – This under $25 stroller was a life saver on our cruise! We have another stroller but it’s a little bulky and heavier so bringing this super lightweight stroller that is easy to stow away is so nice!
  5. Sound Machine – This one is nice because it’s super small and easy to pack! There are several different sounds but the white noise is Landon’s favorite because it sounds like the desk fan we use at home , lol!

3 Things Under 20 Minutes That Are Good For The Mind, Body & Soul

Between working full time, chasing after a little one, running a business and trying to stay healthy, I am constantly looking for ways to live a  healthier lifestyle with limited free time.

Today I am partnering up with Pronamel to share the 3 things that are good for the mind, body & soul and, most importantly, things that can be done in 20 minutes or less. Mamas you are going to want to read on!

1- Relaxing at home with a face mask

There aren’t many things I love more than applying a face mask with some quiet time at home. It’s an added bonus that they do wonders for your skin too! Very rarely do I have time to enjoy a full spa day so any self-care activities I can do at home is a win in my book.

2- Working out

Even on busy days, I like to take at least 20 minutes to get a workout in. Whether that is at home, at the gym or just a walk outside. Working out makes me feel so much better mentally and physically.

3- Brushing with Pronamel Intensive Enamel Repair

There aren’t many things that you can do in two minutes that help you live a healthier lifestyle, but brushing with Pronamel Intensive Enamel Repair toothpaste is one of them! When brushing my teeth with Pronamel Repair, it is helping to actively repairing my acid-weakened enamel to strengthen and protect from everyday acids.

I know to some of you that may not know me on a personal level might be thinking this toothpaste blog post is off-brand for me but truthfully it could not be more on brand. Ask my mom, dad or husband who have had to deal with my dentist bills in the past, haha.

I actually started using Pronamel a few years ago because it was recommended by my dentist, who had explained acid erosion to me. Acids are found in certain foods and drinks such as my juice cleanses and my acai bowls. Let me tell you, I consume juices and acai bowls like they are going out of style because I am just trying to live that healthier lifestyle. While those foods and drinks may be good for my body, they were really doing a number on my teeth! Acid erosion can cause teeth to appear “see-through,” dull, discolored or even yellow. She handed me a tube and insisted I started using this toothpaste because Pronamel is actually the #1 dentist recommended brand for strengthening and protecting enamel. I immediately loved it! I endured years of having braces for a better smile, I couldn’t throw all that away. Pronamel to the rescue!

So, I was thrilled to learn a few months ago that Pronamel has a product that helps with that protection.  Pronamel Repair helps actively repair the effects that acids in certain foods can have on your enamel.

It was comforting to hear that Pronamel Repair was helping to keep my teeth healthy by not only cleaning my teeth, but also helping repair the effects of acid erosion from my diet. All of that without having to do anything extra but brush my teeth with it! I’m not sure gets any easier than that!

So that’s why I chose to keep using Pronamel Repair. Will you join me?
