A Simple Checklist To The Perfect Email
A few months ago during a meeting I shared an “email etiquette checklist” with my team. I’ve been composing emails for…well a very long time LOL. That doesn’t make me an expert, that actually probably makes me more prone to making mistakes because I have to send and respond to so many emails a day and then when I get home add all of my blog emails on top of that which I send at all hours of the night. A checklist is a must have for me.
I can’t tell you how many emails I’ve received from brands that didn’t use proper punctuations and goodness sometimes even complete sentences. Even worse is when they don’t even spell my name right. I mean I know we are all very busy and I may have been the 100th person the brand emailed that day but a simple “did I spell her name right?” check would have went a long way.
In the corporate world it is equally as important to use a simple checklist and though there are so many reasons why this is important the number one thing I have learned along the way is you never know who your email is going to be forwarded to. I could send a list of action items to the field and somehow that gets circulated and sent to my Senior VP of Operations. Am I nervous that it got sent to her? No. Why? Because my email had a purpose. It was very clear who my email was directed to, it told them exactly what needed to be done, it gave them a deadline and it was professional.
Below I am sharing a very simple checklist on making sure your professionalism shines through in your emails.
Why is email etiquette important?
- It represents your professionalism- your recipient may have never met you in person or spoke to you on the phone. Does your email represent you the way you want it to?
- Being direct (but respectful) gets you the information you need by the timeline you need it by- being direct leaves the recipient with clear direction
- You never know who your email is going to be forwarded to- as I mentioned earlier, you could be sending an email to someone who you feel very comfortable chatting with but if your “hey girlfriend!” email somehow gets forwarded to your SVP, they may not like that
What to check before you hit send?
- Is everything spelled correctly?
- Did you address the proper people?
- Are you clear whether or not action needs to be taken?
- If you are pitching a brand, are you clear on exactly what you project to do for them and exactly what you are asking from them?
- If action needs to be taken, are you clear on what answers you are looking for and did you request a deadline?
- Email To: who you need a response from and CC: those as an FYI
- Did you use all of the proper punctuations?
- Does the subject line of your email reflect the information you are sharing?
- Clean up emails before forwarding them
- If you used acronyms, are they going to be understood by everyone included in the email?
A Simple Checklist to the Perfect Email
I know we are all very busy so sometimes we respond to emails “on the fly” but it is so important to take a few minutes to ensure we are communicating properly. Your little email might go a long way.
Also, a fun action item I had my team do is quickly pull 2 random emails they sent in the past week and check it against this list. Did it pass? 🙂
Thank you for reading today guys and I hope this checklist helps!

{Double} Date Night
Some Friday nights consist of me in my pajamas and us going through the Sonic drive through for a master blast but every once in a while we like to put real clothes on for a fun night out!
As you may have read in this post, we recently enjoyed a staycation at Hotel Sorella in City Centre. One of the many reasons this hotel is so amazing is its location. Hotel Sorella is surrounded by great eateries and entertainment! Friday night we were so honored when The General Public offered to host us for dinner and drinks.
They had the cutest interior with their farm to table aesthetic. Chef Luis continued to bring out delicious dishes and if you have never been be sure to try the burrata & pistachio toast, fish & chips and the crispy quail and hot cakes. Oh and come hungry because their portions are very generous! Also a must have is their signature drink, the Rusky Rose which is Absolut Elyx, lemon juice and house grenadine. This visit was the perfect way to end the week with the hubby!
I thought Double Date Night was the perfect title to this post because not only did Brandon and I have two date nights back to back (which never happens btw) but some of our best friends joined us for a competitive fun night of bowling at Bowl & Barrel on Saturday.
Rose Embroidered Tee (sold out so linking a similar one here and here) | Denim | Heels | Earrings | Crossbody Bag
So if you have been following along from some time now you basically already know Danielle and Eric. I’m pretty sure they have made an appearance on the blog as much as Mom and Dad! LOL. They met us at Bowl & Barrel and we had so much fun bowling, eating and enjoying B&B’s shareable cocktails! The velvet mule might have been the group favorite but the Nolet’s Bramble was pretty delicious too!
I loved how the Farm to Table theme was carried over to the Bowl & Barrel décor too. We also enjoyed some beef sliders, meatballs and yummy pizza at B&B!
Don’t tell Brandon I told you but Danielle won this game. P.S. Look at him in the top left photo. Why does he look like Flash? #takingthisgamewaytooseriously. 🙂
If you are looking for a fun date night with your significant other or with some friends, I definitely recommend The General Public or Bowl & Barrel for a good time!
P.S. The General Public just started their Monday-Friday happy hourly where their entire drink menu is $4 at 4pm, $5 at 5pm and $6 at 6pm so grab your coworkers or your girlfrinds for a fun HH!

SkinPen Procedure With MIA Plastic Surgery
Hi lovelies!
Some of you may already know that I had the SkinPen procedure done with MIA Plastic Surgery a few weeks ago. I shared a little behind the scenes on my snapchat and I immediately loved the procedure but I wanted to wait to do a full review after a few weeks so I could tell you all about my results.
Update? I’m a huge fan! 🙂
A few months ago I did the Sculpsure procedure with MIA (I talked about it here) so I already knew this was a place I could trust. Not only does MIA Plastic Surgery have 20 years of experience with special expertise in minimally invasive surgery but the entire staff there is so welcoming. It’s like walking into your girlfriend’s house being greeted by all of your (very good looking) best girlfriends!
So, I gotta be honest with you guys, I was actually nervous about this procedure. I mean yes, I did my research but the thought of a needle creating small “punctures” all over my face sounded a little scary but I really wanted to do it because I have only heard great things about the results.
So today I want to share a little more about SkinPen and my personal experience/results.
What is the SkinPen?
SkinPen is a little handheld device that literally looks like a pen. This “pen” has 14 micro needles inside. I would like to point out that these needles are disposed of after a single use so the process is completely sterile.
Here is a video that show the start of the process and Katy talking about the procedure.
What exactly is SkinPen expected to do?
Gives you beautiful, youthful skin, duh! 🙂 It helps improve the appearance of fine lines, wirnkles and even scars.
**Also, something I didn’t think about but so happy that Katy pointed it out, it’s one of the few treatments you can do right around your eyes to prevent wrinkles. Procedures such as botox cannot be done too close to your eyes.
P.S. Katy is the licensed esthetician at MIA (the blonde cutie in the video). You’ll love her!
Does it hurt?
Okay, so everyone’s pain tolerance is different. I read so many different reviews and articles online that “it didn’t hurt at all”. So unfortunately, I think that was the mind set I went in with. Guys, I have to be honest with you and tell you that it was a little more painful than I expected. I mean it was obviously bearable and I didn’t have to take any breaks but I just want to prepare you for when you get this done. On a scale from 0-10, my pain was probably at a 4 but around my nose pain level was about an 8. Again, this is coming from a girl whose eyes water when she gets her eyebrows waxed, but if you are that girl too I just want to be totally honest with you.
Would I do it again?
Heck yes. See, it obviously didn’t hurt that bad. 🙂
More about the SkinPen procedure
I arrived to my appointment and chatted with Katy about my skin concerns. Afterwards, she put a numbing cream on my face for about 20 minutes to numb me. Through the entire SkinPen procedure which was less than about 30 minutes, she educated me on how to take care of my skin post procedure.
Less than an hour you guys. How easy is that?!
Post procedure care
katy just informed me not to use any products with exfoliate for about 4 days and they provided me with Skinfuse product to use in place of my regular daily moisturizer for about 4 days as well.
After my procedure
Immediately after my procedure my face was light red. Not too crazy, just like I got a sunburn on my face. 🙂 The very next day my skin was pretty dry and continued a light peeling for about 3 days but no kidding on the 4th day I was already happy with my results!
**Not the most attractive angle or picture. #nofilter, haha! But I wanted to show you what I looked like immediately after. Not very red.
How much does it cost?
The SkinPen procedure at MIA is $400 or $1,200 with PRP.
Clearly I am happy with my results and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to do a minimally invasive treatment to reduce fine lines and wrinkles. If you guys have any questions about this procedure that I did not answer here fell free to email me at hello@thestylelynnlife.com. If I can’t answer your question I’ll be sure to get you in touch with someone at MIA who can!
xo, Roselyn
