You guuuuyyyssss….I know I’m not going back to school but a gal livin’ for a bargain won’t pass up tax free weekend!
Today I am sharing 4 things you need to know about Tax Free Weekend to save even more money back to school shopping. Oh and read through today’s post to see how 50 of you can win a $25 gift card for FREE!
I was thinking back to when I was in highschool a hundred years ago and laughed because I remember picking out my outfit for the first day of school like I was getting ready for fashion week. I would pick out my outfits, shoes, matching nail polish and then of course make sure my best friends were coordinating too, duh. And then I remember my second year of college and I was all “where are my leggings?” LOL This outfit is definitely a good reflection of how I would have dressed for college. Super casual. Still a bit trendy but super casual. I’m pretty sure Fila was my jam back then too. I’m happy to say it’s making its way back!
Okay you guys, who likes saving money?! I know I do! As you probably already know, it is Tax Free Weekend here in Texas so here are 4 tips to shopping smarter!
1- Know what is tax exempt and what is not – Most clothing, backpacks and school supplies under $100 are tax free this weekend. See the full list here.
2- Know when tax free weekend is – Each state differs. Tax Free Weekend in Texas this year is August 10-12th.
3- Know when to start shopping – The answer is now. Whether you are shopping for yourself or for your kids, try to go in a day before to try on sizes and make a list of everything you need (sizes included) so that you can be sure to snag all the things without waiting in line for a dressing room. Even ask if the sales associate can put your items on hold for the next day. If not, at least you will know exactly what you need to grab and just need to pay or them. Tax Free Weekend is cray so this is the way to go if you still want to take advantage of the sales.
4- How to save even more money? – This is a 2 part answer. The first thing you need to do is visit this link to get your coupons that will get you an additional 25% off your purchases! Remember some stores will even apply this to clearance items!!
Another way to save even more money is knowing retailers are competing for your business so it doesn’t hurt to ask for a price match if you see the item at another retailer for a lower price.
And your bonus gift for today?? The first 50 people to text in to Tanger Outlets will get a $25 gift card. Visit my Facebook here to get the code.
Happy shopping friends and let me know if you have any questions!
Oh and also, if you caught my Instagram stories this week you saw that I was at Tanger Outlet’s Mommy and Me event! It was soooo much fun. Baby Weaver did not want to get out of the indoor sandbox. Yes, you heard that right, INDOOR SANDBOX! It was all indoors which is a blessing in this Texas heat! It had bounce houses, craft stations and the sandboxes. And it was inside. Did I already say that? lol. Anyway, if you missed this week’s they will have another one on September 4th. If you mention my name at check in you are going to get a really nice gift!! I can’t tell you what it is but I can tell you I kind of want it for myself lol. I’ll be sure to post a reminder for you mama’s a week before the event!

You’re so cute, girl!!! Here in Minne we don’t have taxes on clothing {seriously, it’s life} but I can just imagine if I lived in a spot that did and a tax free weekend came about.. I would go wild! Xx, Amanda

Thank you so much Amanda! We didn’t have this in California either and OMG I can’t believe so many states DON’T have it! It’s such a great thing especially when you can use that on top of the Tanger Outlet deals! Score!
They don’t do tax-free weekends in Denver, but I loved them when I lived in Ohio! And I need that Fila sweater…I love that the old “loser” brands like Fila and Champion are cool now!
We didn’t have them in California either but it is such a great thing when the state does have them! I’m loving all things Fila right now! xo, Roselyn
This is such an informative post with great tips!
Thank you so much Kimberly!! Tax Free weekend is such a great thing!
I had no idea tax free day was a thing! I rushed to google if Washington state does this as well, sadly we do not.

I didn’t either until I moved to Texas! We didn’t have it in California but it is such a great thing to implement! Hopefully all states will follow this in the upcoming years! Such a great thing to do for students, parents and teachers! xo, Roselyn
