“4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
This weekend our family received the worse phone call you’ll ever want to receive. Brandon’s sweet grandmother, Meme, passed in her sleep. I didn’t know if I was going to post today but all I could think of was how much Meme loved what I was doing with the blog. And when I saw this dress was called “Eternal Blessing” it was like a sign.
She was literally the sweetest lady. She was so proud of everyone in her family. There was no doubt that no matter what kind of mood you were in you would instantly smile when you saw her because she always had a smile on her face.
So no matter what I will always try to be that person for you guys. I am thankful for all of you and your sweet messages and comments. I think it’s amazing that even though I have never met many of you in person your comments still touch me in a way that a best friend’s would. When I get messages like “your posts just make me giggle”. I know, I know. I always have a story, haha. Or “your pictures just brighten up my day”. That reminds me that you guys are reading and maybe what I am going through some of you may be going through too.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 is the verse that the family agreed to put in her bio and I think it is so perfect for who she is. She was patient, she was kind. She did not dishonor and she was not self seeking.
She literally did everything for everyone. Even if you asked her not to do it she would. That’s just who she was and you weren’t going to tell her what to do 🙂 Every time Brandon and I were sick she would bring over her homemade soup. She would just ring the doorbell and leave it on the door step because she didn’t want to hear us tell her “she shouldn’t have”. She would make it to everyone’s birthday, graduation, doctor’s appointment if you needed her to. I can hear her voice now telling me all about Brandon as a kid and how he was “the smartest boy she had ever seen”. “He ran so fast in those white tennis shoes. She never seen anyone run so fast backwards.” 🙂 Every Saturday when we got to church she would be the first person I looked for because I just loved being in her presence. This last Saturday was different and all Saturday’s to come will be too. Oh Meme…I sure am going to miss you.
But we cannot mourn and be selfish because that’s not what Meme would have wanted. She would have wanted us to remember that she lived such a full life and she loved with all of her heart. As most of us could say “I wish I would have done _____ more or I should have said _____” I don’t think Meme could say that because she did not skip a beat. She made a point to always be there and that woman always stuck to her word. I can’t emphasize enough that she did everything for everyone simply because she loved it.
We went with the family to make final arrangements yesterday and I’m amazed by all the strong children Meme raised (Brandon’s aunts and uncles) because the way they have come together through all of this is exactly what Meme loves to see.
So today’s post was to tell you all how amazing our Meme was and also to give you, who are going through something similar, a virtual hug and all the strength to get through. It’s going to be hard to adjust and then it’s going to get easier then it’s going to get hard again but then it will get easier. Lean on God, lean on your friend’s and family. Talk about it as much as you need to or pray privately. Cry your eyes out or take a walk. We all handle grief differently and I am here if you need an ear.
Revelation 21:4 – And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
so much love, Roselyn
