Jacket: The link to this exact jacket is here, but because I love this color block style so much I have linked up my other favorites here, here and here | Denim: Just Black | Shoes: Similar here and here| Hat: Fashion Manor | Necklace: Fashion Manor

This fun shoot took place in Central Park during our NY trip earlier this month. What makes it so fun is that well one, we were in New York which is one of my favorite cities of all time and two, my husband took all of the pictures. Even though taking my blog pics isn’t at the top of his “most fun things to do” list I always love shooting with him because he cracks me up with jokes and his over exaggerated “I’m a photographer” moves. LOL. I love going through the pictures after we shoot because the majority of them are me just mouth wide open laughing hysterically! Thankfully we captured some blog worthy ones 🙂 Also, just a personal thought, isn’t it funny how much a picture tells you and at the same time how much it doesn’t? Looking through these specific ones I can totally see and remember what a great weekend it was. I think these photos show what a great time we were having and the happiness is totally captured. However, what it doesn’t show is that literally minutes before we started this shoot Brandon and I got into a little “argument”. Do you want to know what the argument was? It was because we had a bunch of things we wanted to do that day and he had written a list out and my photoshoot was like 5th on the list. I didn’t understand why he would want me to ruin my hair and have to retouch my makeup. I mean DUH, right? Well after explaining to him he totally understood. In his defense, he was like “I’m a guy. I don’t think of things like that. You look like that all the time”. Flawless? Okay, I forgive you LOL. Needless to say, we continued on with our amazing trip! 🙂

My husband is a NY Jets fan so that was the main reason we booked the trip. Again, taking advantage of the Southwest deals this past June! We both have been to New York several times, but never together so we made sure we did all the tourist things this time around; Statue of Liberty, Freedom Tower, Times Square, Rockerfeller Center, Museums, Central Park etc. We also purchased the Big Bus pass for the entire 4 days and I’m so glad we did! We did the ride through Brooklyn, Harlem and the night ride through the city. The night ride also took us over the Manhattan Bridge which gave us the most amazing views. I would highly recommend the Big Bus experience! It may take you through parts you didn’t plan on going and gives you the opportunity to take amazing pics!

Thank you so much for stopping by!! Happy Monday and Happy Thanksgiving week!!

Holiday Dresses

Cheers to the Sparkliest Time of the Year!

I love a good holiday party! Maybe it’s the holiday cheer, maybe it’s the people, maybe it’s because I can bust out my holiday sparkle! 🙂 With so many functions each year I try not to spend too much money on something I may only wear once.

I got this beauty of a bronze dress for under $30 last year to wear for New Years Eve and I still love it! I love it on its own, but my Mom doesn’t really like looking at her “little girls” tattoos so if I was attending a holiday party with my Mom you best believe I will be accessorizing with a second piece of some kind. I love how the vest lends an edgy look to this otherwise glam dress. Last year I wore it with a tuxedo jacket, but I think I’m going to need to dress it up with some fur this year! This exact dress is sold out, but I linked some other must have styles also all under $50.

Did you all have a great weekend and a good Monday? I hope so! My sisters were in town for a short visit and I just had the best time being with them. Always! Also, just a side note Minette and Crystal aren’t actually my blood sisters. I have known them, well since FOREVER. Our parents were friends, our siblings were friends so naturally we just became family. I have a number of babes I call my sisters because when you stay best friends for so long they become your family. So anyway, I thought I would put that out there so down the line you’re not like “dang, I didn’t know Roselyn had 27 sisters” LOL

Annnyyway, my “sisters” and I had a great weekend. We did all of our favorite things which include eating, sipping cocktails, shopping and just being together. They, along with the rest of my family, live in California so when I do get to see them it is just so nice. It was totally worth having to get up at 3am to take them to the airport this morning LOL. Today I may have had more coffee than usual!

I hope you all had a great day even if coffee had to help you get through it! Thank you for stopping by loves! I appreciate you!!

Birthday Weekend in Memphis

“When things go wrong, don’t go with them”

-Elvis

Helllooo Saturday and beautiful people! I wanted to share our recent trip to Memphis, TN with you all! As some of you may know, we went to Memphis for my birthday weekend. The hubby and I have on our bucket list to visit all of the U.S. together (in addition to an out of the country trip once a year) so when Southwest had that crazy, amazing deal back in June for $92 a ticket Brandon called me and asked me if I wanted to go to Memphis for my birthday. Umm, DUH! Naturally, I asked some of our best friends to go and fortunately, 2 of them agreed! Memphis may not be a top “must see” place on everyone’s bucket list, but really I think travels are all about who you are with and what you make of it! I really could be in the middle of no where with these 3 people and have the time of my life! And after visiting the fun city I say it really should be on everyone’s “must visit” list!

Danielle found us a sweet spot via Air BNB. Have you guys ever tried it before? It’s a site where you can find unique stays all over the world. People rent out their homes, vacation homes and even extra rooms. The extra room thing had us kind of skeptical. I’m not sure how I feel about staying in a house with complete strangers. Obvi, I could never be on Real World LOL. Also, I just went to the Air BNB site to pull the link for you guys and notice that they even have castles for rent in some parts of the world, CASTLES!! Dang, we totally missed that. Maybe next time 🙂 Overall I would have to say it was a 5 star experience. The gentlemen who we rented the house from was super easy to work with and his place was so contemporary chic that Danielle and I joked about trying to buy some of his pieces from him, haha! The house was a short distance from basically everything and I noticed there were no hotels around so we wouldn’t have been able to get that “localism” feel otherwise and surprisingly it was the fraction of the cost of a hotel. I would highly suggest using Air BNB.

Okay so the rest of our weekend…where do I start? We did so much while we were there. The first night we got there we went to a restaurant called Kings Palace on Beale street, walked around and enjoyed a few frozen drinks.

IMG_0647

We went to the Civil Rights Museum which, I’m not sure you know this because I didn’t, but it is actually at/part of the motel where MLK was assassinated. Whoa, now that was an emotional yet refreshingly educational morning.

IMG_0751

IMG_0735 IMG_0726

And there was no way we would be in Memphis and not go to Graceland. Who doesn’t love Elvis right? I know my Dad is probably a top ten biggest fan! I snagged a few bags of Peanut Butter & Banana flavored coffee too!

So during our time between visiting every “must see” site in Memphis we had a lot of laughs, did some souvenir shopping and went to a number of delicious restaurants. I’m not even kidding when I say I’m pretty sure we went to ALL of the “Best of Memphis” restaurants while we were there and probably flew back at least 5 pounds heavier BUT happier 🙂

Saturday night, my actual birthday, we went to a place called Flight which I highly recommend! Can we say DE-LICIOUS?! We enjoyed delicious steak and yummy cocktails. Afterwards we went out to enjoy a night of endless cocktails and A LOT of laughs! I’m pretty certain there was some dancing in there too. I mean that’s basically always guaranteed.

Thank you Uber drivers for taking us to late night eats (like we didn’t eat enough during the day) and thank you to my amazing husband and friends for always providing a good time!

AND..thank YOU for stopping by the blog this Saturday morning. Wishing you all the best weekend!

As you know, it was my birthday weekend so Brandon and I celebrated with a long weekend in Memphis with some of our best friends. Oh my, it was SO much fun! We visited Graceland, the Civil Rights Museum, Beale Street and had the most delicious food! We tried to hit up all the “must try” eateries in our short time there. I’d say we were pretty successful! My favorite breakfast spot we went to was Bryant’s, favorite bakery was Muddy’s and favorite dinner was at Flight and….drinks were delicious everywhere, haha! I definitely left TN with my heart and belly full! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend just as much!

I remember turning 25 like it was yesterday. I was so nervous because that meant I was “almost 30”! But today I turn 32 and I couldn’t be happier or any less nervous. I have been blessed with an amazing family, amazing husband, and amazing friends. By no way, shape or form is my life perfect, but it’s all about perspective. God has blessed me with good health so I get myself to the gym regularly to continue to take care of what is. I have been blessed with a great job in a not so perfect economy so I make the most of it even on the hardest days. I have loving parents who I can still call everyday so I do. (Even if you are thousands of miles away from your parents, don’t forget to call them guys.) I have been blessed with more time so I continue to pursue my additional goals and dreams. It’s never too late to do something you’ve always wanted to do and it’s definitely not to late to fulfill a new passion. And last but not least I have been blessed with the power to choose. Things, obstacles and people are put into our path of life. Some good and some bad. We are to choose who and what we surround ourselves with. I choose positive people, I choose fun people, I chose the ones that choose to love and I choose honesty. That is what makes turning 32 so amazing!

Thank you again so, SO much for stopping by to read my blog posts. I appreciate your guys’ messages, emails and comments on instagram so much. Taking the time to share your words with me in this busy life is a wonderful thing and I don’t take it for granted!

Happy Saturday & Happy Halloween! Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

About Me: Roselyn vs. Roselynn

Happy Monday you amazing human beings!

Approximately 12 weeks ago I launched my blog. In this short 12 weeks I have met so many amazing people in the blogging community! The support and collaboration that I see everyday is extremely inspiring. I am so happy to be a part of this network and I am so grateful for all of my new followers! Today marks my 3 month anniversary from launching my blog AND it’s officially my BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!! Since I have gained some new followers I thought it would be fun to tell you all some things about me!

IMG_2691[1]

ABOUT ME:

  1. My birthday is on Halloween.
  2. Until I was about 6 years old I thought everyone dressed up and brought candy to school because it was my birthday 🙂
  3. My name is really spelled with two N’s, Roselynn (hence style_lynn), but I started writing my name with one N when I was little and my parents allowed me to continue spelling it this way. They knew I was born a free spirit. LOL. I still write and sign my name with one N.
  4. I am 100% Filipina.
  5. I was born in Guam.
  6. I have always been a follower of Christ, but my faith has grown extremely stronger in the past 12 months.
  7. I have 2 older brothers who I love so much and am very close to.
  8. I have 7 handsome nephews and 3 beautiful nieces. My brothers (and sister in laws) stay busy. LOL
  9. I truly admire and look up to my Mom and Dad. I inspire to be more like them each day. More loving, more kind, more hardworking, more faithful, more passionate and more selfless.
  10. I eat 8-10 times a day. My husband especially likes it when I ask him to get me food at 10pm.
  11. I feel extremely rested and refreshed after a solid 4 hours night sleep.
  12. I have a deep love for my best friends that I just consider them family.
  13. I love meeting new people.
  14. I have an addiction to salty foods like chips and certain candy, but I don’t put salt on anything when I cook. Weird. I know.
  15. My husband and I have been married for a year and eight months.
  16. My one main fear is being electrocuted. I even think twice about changing a light bulb.
  17. The first time I changed a light bulb was about a year ago when my husband MADE me to help me get over my fear. At that moment I wasn’t sure if he really loved me.
  18. I own an online accessories boutique.
  19. I really, super love rap music.
  20. I grew up in California and all of my family is still there
  21. I have two dogs, Tex and Cali. Get it? 🙂
  22. I have a habit of saying “OMG” at the beginning of most of my sentences.
  23. My favorite cocktail is an extra dirty martini.
  24. I just asked my husband to give me a fun fact to share with my blog readers and he answered “never take her cheese” LOL! Long story short I was really hangry one day and I had put together cheese and crackers as a snack and he ate one before I did! Moral of the story is don’t touch a hangry woman’s food.
  25.  I am in love with anything fitness related and willing to try anything new. Although, my favorite thing is definitely weight training. This is probably a good thing since I really like to eat.
  26. I work as a Buyer in Supply Chain.
  27. I can honestly say that I truly love my boss (crazy right?!).
  28. Thunderstorms really scare me. Like the first time I lived through a Texas one I was like “WTF is happening right now?”
  29. I’m a list maker.
  30. I love to cook, but have to follow a recipe exact step by step. I am not a natural at all.
  31. My favorite color is blush pink. Can “prints” be counted as a color? If so, that’s my second favorite.
  32. I chose to share 32 facts because in exactly 5 days I will be…you guessed it! 32!! 🙂

Why I Love Fiji

“Do you think this is what Heaven will be like?”

-Roselyn

So aside from the obvious reasons why one would love Fiji; the beautiful waters, the kind locals and island living. I have a very special, different kind of love for Fiji. Fiji was the location I attended my first Feast. Not only did I go on the amazing tropical vacation I had always dreamed of, but it was a place where I became closer to my faith, closer to God and I believe we even developed a greater strength in our marriage. We had the opportunity to pray with our breathen everyday. It was a beautiful thing focusing on only these things for 10 straight days. Halfway through our stay, we were poolside relaxing and I looked at my husband and joked “do you think this is what Heaven will be like?” LOL. Actually, I was semi joking. 🙂

Maybe you just want to take yourself or you and your family on an amazing vacation. I would highly recommend Fiji Islands. The most expensive part of our travels was the airfare of course, but for those of you who didn’t know hotels.com will match the lowest price guaranteed all the way until the day of check in. For example, our resort was originally $200 a night and (because my husband kept watching the rates) we ended up paying only $69 a night. YES, you heard me right!! So just do it guys! Paradise for under a $100 a night?! Unreal!

Thanks again for letting me share this extremely special trip with you all. Here’s a few more pictures for fun! They include a hike to Biausevu Waterfall where we had Kava for the first time and one of our last dinners with our new Fijian family where they gave us beautiful handmade gifts. 🙂
