Ahhhh….can we all just take a deep breathe and woo-saaah?! I cannot believe we are into our second week of February! Time is flying by! Sometimes a deep breathe and a moment of silence is much needed in the midst of the every day craziness. Even if a moment is literally 5 seconds. 🙂 Okay, 5 seconds of downtime is over let’s talk about this take on Athleisure! 🙂
I am convinced that if I throw on a crisp button up underneath a sweatshirt I can make it work for the office! Haha, don’t I wish?!
Isn’t this polka dot Adidas sweatshirt adorable?! I styled it with a button up, distressed denim and heels because my short self will take the height where I can get it! I am calling this Athleisure look “Boy Meets Girl” 🙂
Adidas is one of my most loved brands right now. Seriously, I used to have every color in the Adidas Original shoe when I was in middle school. I am so wishing I had kept at least a few of them! I just got in my custom snakeskin sneaks with STYLELYNN written in gold. OMG, I am so obsessed! You guys totally need to get a pair!
**I know this sparkly bracelet has been on repeat. It’s one of my favorites!
I hope you all are having a great start to the week! This one is going to be another busy/exciting one! I have a quick work trip scheduled, flying out Wednesday and returning Thursday then the hubs and I turn right back around Thursday evening and fly to Boston to celebrate our 2 year anniversary weekend! Yay!
Thank you for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of your week babes and don’t forget to take those deep breathes and moments of silence when needed!
As promised, I am writing to tell you about my 3 week results with Tula Skincare products!
For those of you who did not get a chance to read my original post about TULA Skincare, here’s a little bit of information about the product: TULA was founded by Dr. Roshini Raj, a gastroenterologist and internist who believes in nourishing the body both internally and externally. “Each product is infused with a probiotic complex, which contains yogurt; green tea; blueberry extracts; and vitamins A, C, and E. Fruit extracts are also incorporated into the line. With TULA, Dr. Raj introduces a simple collection of products designed to bring that sense of balance to every woman’s daily skin care routine.”
Typically when I am trying a new skincare product I use it for a straight 2 weeks to see results. If I do not see any changes I move onto something new. I don’t know if that is exactly the best route but I am a very impatient person. If a product isn’t helping me look ageless it’s time to move on 🙂 I decided to continue my Tula Skincare regimen for 3 weeks before my review. Honestly, we had a lot of travel and work events scheduled for the month and as much as I would like to say that I am strict with my skincare regimen when I’m traveling I am really not 🙁 so to be fair I gave my skin ample time to see the results of Tula.
Let’s begin with the type of skin I have so you can better relate. My skin type is fairly sensitive. It is more on the dry side and certain areas of my face are very dry. This makes it really hard to find a moisturizer that hydrates fully but does not leave my skin feeling and/or looking oily. Does this sound familiar to you? Well then I have good news for you!
One of my favorite Tula products was the Hydrating Day/Night Cream. I loved how moisturized my face felt after this and again not oily at all! While we were in DC last weekend (still need to share that trip with you!) my skin was extra dry because of the extremely cold weather so I would have to apply my moisturizer in the morning, let it sit for a few minutes and then reapply another layer. It moisturized my face perfectly but I didn’t feel like I had a heavy amount of lotion on my face at all even after the 2 applications. My only complaint here is that the hydrating cream did not have any SPF. My BB Cream has SPF so I’m not worried about that too much this time of year, but come summer I will most likely switch out my day moisturizer for something with additional SPF. We gotta protect that beautiful skin ladies!
Okay, so my most favorite product from this line is the Exfoliating Treatment Mask. It gently exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal your glowing complexion. P.S. Glamour also labeled this mask as a best new trend for 2016. If we can’t trust Glamour Magazine who can we trust?! 🙂 You will not be disappointed!
To be completely honest I have other face washes I prefer and I didn’t get the results I specifically wanted with the eye cream so I most likely will not continue using those 2 products in my skincare routine, but I most definitely will continue using the Hydrating Day/Night Cream and Exfoliating Treatment Mask. Overall I loved the products. Try them out and let me know your thoughts!
xo, Roselyn

I typically choose my #ootd based on how I am feeling on that particular day, but I think it is safe to say that a graphic tee and blazer is usually what I like to spend the majority of my time in. This outfit definitely includes some of my favorite go-to essentials! Blazer. Denim (although I would typically opt for distressed). Fun Heels. Graphic tee that says it all for me!
Though my favorite jeans are distressed ones those aren’t exactly acceptable to the office yet so I cleaned up this look with some perfect skinnies by Flying Monkey. Also, with this Houston weather that can’t decide what it wants to do, layering is definitely key and chic blazers make it easy! I accessorized with some fun floral heels to brighten up my outfit! It’s always nice to throw in an element of surprise!
Tee | Denim | Floral Heels (similar) | Blazer (similar) here and here Tote (I have had this bag for like 5 years so I linked up 2 similar styles) here and here | Earrings
I hope you all are having a great week! Be sure to check out Dot and Joy for other fun graphic tees. Let’s finish off this week with what this tee tells us to do “Throw Kindness Around Like Confetti”! Aim each day to make one person smile. Whether its a friend or a complete stranger. Everyone is fighting their own battle that we may never know about.
Thanks for stopping by babes! Sending you all good vibes!
Apparently there is a fine line between being basic and not basic. I’m sorry to all you Kreayshawn fans out there, but being basic doesn’t exactly mean one is not awesome.
I’ll be honest- I have other “don’t be basic” themed tees in addition to this one. If you would have walked up to me last week and asked me if I was basic. I would have said “ummm, NO!” with an “I can’t believe you just asked me that” look on my face.
Let me give you one example of why I’m NOT basic:
I do not conform to things/trends just because. If I like it then I like it. If I don’t then I don’t pretend to.
This should be the only reason you need to define you are not “basic”.
I read through lists upon lists of what different social sites define as being basic. One of the explanations includes a definition of a “Basic B****” from Urban Dictionary which was too harsh for my taste. These lists of describing a “basic” person were pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
I’ll give you 20 things that were common amongst these lists and I guarantee you check at least 10. Not because you are basic but because you are a human.
You’re basic if you like Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
-Ummm. Okay. If you don’t like coffee that tastes like dessert, you might be a robot with no taste buds.
You’re basic if you love brunch.
-A meal that makes it totally acceptable to drink before noon? You can call me super basic on this one.
You’re basic if you had a wedding board on Pinterest before you were even engaged.
-Yes. And I call this good planning.
You have a spin instructor that you claim all your friends “must try”!
-Yes, I have the name of 3 instructors you must try actually!
You’ve done a juice cleanse.
-Yeah, I like living a healthy lifestyle.
You love Taylor Swift.
-Ummm, have you heard this girl sing? And do you see all the amazing, selfless things she does? C’mon you may not be her biggest fan, but you love her too.
You’re basic if you’ve told someone you loved them after a couple cocktails.
-I overly tell people how much I love them after zero cocktails soooo…again another reason I am “basic” according to “the list”.
You’ve made your own jean shorts.
-I can’t even. Of course I have! What else am I going to do with perfectly fitting denim that has paint splatter all over them?!
You’re basic if you own jean shorts.
-Omg, is this seriously on the list?
You’re basic if you like Starbucks.
-Starbucks has coffee, tea, smoothies, sandwiches, water, the cutest coffee mugs and dessert. What’s not to like?
You’re basic if you wear leggings.
-#sorrynotsorry I enjoy comfort.
You’re basic if you love scented candles.
-Yes, I like things that smell yummy.
Sometimes you refer to Mean Girl quotes.
-You go Glen Coco.
You’re basic if you cry when you watch The Notebook.
-Yes, I have a heart and feelings.
You’re basic if one of your life goals was/is to purchase Louboutins.
-It’s called good taste.
You’re basic if you get excited about the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
-That’s like asking a man why he’s excited about the Super Bowl.
You’re basic if you take selfies.
-I guess I was basic all weekend.
You’re basic if you take food pictures.
If I think something is pretty, even if its food, I want to share my pic with the world.
You’re basic if you abbreviate words.
-See #18. Guilty.
You’re basic if you love frozen yogurt.
-Literally, laughing out loud! I’m done with this list!
So if you would like to read these long lists in detail feel free to google basic girl vs. non basic. You might be surprised like I was to see how many have put together lists to describe Basic B’s.
Also, for pure entertainment purposes here’s a link to a BuzzFeed questionnaire to tell you just how basic you are LOL.
I scored 37 out of 119 which tells me “Yeah, you like basic s#@!. But there’s a reason why popular things are popular: They aren’t that bad. Go grab a burrito bowl and crack open that D.C. — you deserve it.”
After reading these articles of how being basic is described, I’m thinking my favorite “don’t be basic” tanks should really say “don’t be human”. LOL
I would love to hear your thoughts on this term. I think I’ll stick with my definition of “don’t be basic” because I like it better. I am my own person. I will like what I like and post it all over Instagram because I like it. I will continue to make my own jean shorts and wear them while I eat my fro-yo and drink pumpkin spice lattes. I am, basically not basic.
People have been giving gifts to celebrate anniversaries for centuries. According to Wikipedia, “The historic origins of wedding anniversaries date back to the Holy Roman Empire, when husbands crowned their wives with a silver wreath on their 25th anniversary, and a gold wreath on the 50th. Later, in the twentieth century, commercialism led to the addition of more anniversaries being represented by a named gift.”
Last year when Brandon and I were coming up on our 1 year anniversary I decided that I wanted to stick to what we call today “traditional anniversary gifts”. I reeeaaally enjoy giving gifts so I thought this would be a super fun way to keep things creative! Year one is paper. I thought I could write him a sweet letter about how much he means to me, maybe get some fun prints from our honeymoon and past vacations or even tickets to somewhere! But when he surprised me with tickets to Chicago, a place I have always wanted to go while it was snowing, I thought okay I need to top his gift 🙂 so I bought him an Armani watch. Haha! Okay, I know you are probably like what the?! But really I was so super ecstatic about the trip I literally wanted to give him something just as good. Armani never disappoints and if you look at the “modern anniversary gift guide” year one is clocks so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 🙂 BUT back to my paper gift, I really did want to stick with the traditional gift giving idea I had set out for (even if that meant he got more than one gift every year). A few months after our wedding I actually ended up selling my wedding dress. I know I have talked about this before, but my closet is like a revolving door and this is the perfect example. I mean really, what was I going to do with the dress anyway?!
My husband didn’t know that I had sold it so when we were celebrating our anniversary dinner in Chicago I gave him his watch and inside of the case not only was there this amazing Armani piece but also a check! His paper gift guys! 😉 I mean who doesn’t love cash money?! Okay, if you are still stuck on the fact that I sold my wedding dress we can talk more about that later LOL!
So this year as we come up on our 2 year wedding anniversary we are celebrating the year of cotton! And I am able to share his gift with you today because the gift I ordered for him came in 4 weeks earlier than expected and I totally caved and couldn’t hold it to myself any longer!
**apparently, my right arm is stronger than my left because after 10 takes this is as straight as I could hold it after arm day!**
I was able to get this awesome and top notch quality Personalized World Travel Map printed on cotton canvas via Etsy. You can order it framed or not framed. It is 24” x 36” unframed. They are made with love by a husband and wife in Denver, CO. Your map will come with 100 colored push pins in a mix of red, white and black to mark your map. You can choose to use the colors as you wish. Choose one color for every place you have gone, another color for where you plan to go and you can even mark your favorites! I even read some people saying that they had “his and her” colors, but apparently if Brandon and I haven’t been there together it doesn’t get counted on the map! LOL! I think this is such a great gift for you and your spouse if you love to travel. Heck, I might be buying this for a few of my friends as well!
Here are a few other fun gift giving cotton ideas!
Robe: Purchase a plush robe and surprise him with a relaxing, spa retreat | 2. Personalized Pillows and Monogrammed Towels (I love anything personalized!) | 3. Fun Apron (You can buy one for yourself too and surprise him with a 5 course meal and a romantic night in) | 4. Personalized Canvas with the lyrics to the song you first danced to at your wedding | 5. Nice Suit (Surprise him with a suit and take him on a date!)
I would love to hear your ideas too! And since I know you all are planners we may want to start thinking about the upcoming celebrations!
Year Three: Leather
Year Four: Silk
Year Five: Wood
OMG, diamonds aren’t until year 60!!! Maybe we can switch back and forth between the “Traditional list” and the “Modern list”. At least the Modern list will get me diamonds at year 10! LOL!
Thanks for stopping by loves! Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas! I always enjoy them!
“The most important thing to wear is a smile” -Ann Taylor
I am loving this tweed top and pencil skirt from Ann Taylor. It’s perfectly tailored for the most flattering fit, but the slightly unfinished, fringed edges gives it a bit of an edge. As much edge as you can bring to the office at least 🙂
The red and cream combo will easily take you through spring. It’s so perfectly blended it almost looks like a blush pink in these pics! I dressed it up here with some sparkle, but it would look equally as cute with pearls! I chose to wear my single strap nudes rather than nude pumps because even though I super love midi skirts I can’t change these short legs LOL so I like to opt for strappy shoes when I wear midi length skirts to elongate my legs as much as I can!
I hope you all had a great weekend and side note if you are in Houston, TX and haven’t been to The Dunlavy you MUST go! I finally got a chance to go last week for lunch and not only was it delicious, but the décor is SO cute! I have spent the last few days trying to figure out how I can work a couple of chandeliers into my home! You’ll see what I’m talking about as soon as you walk in LOL! Also, I highly recommend the Kale salad with chicken and the jalapeno cheddar biscuit. They were both delish! I’d love to hear what you think about the place or you can just invite me to lunch with you 🙂 Either way is good for me!
I love how crisp and feminine this dress looks with a blazer for the office. Then once you take the blazer off you instantly go from work to weekend!
Have you guys had a chance to visit Baanou boutique in the River Oaks district yet? If not, you totally need to! Not only will the interior of the boutique take your breathe away as its adorned with original Louis XVI chandeliers and sconces, but owner Maryam Afshari handpicks the perfect mix of well known and emerging designers catering to every budget. I highly suggest this be a stop on your next shopping trip. The staff is so friendly and amazing. You’ll feel like a celeb with your own personal shopper! But for fashionistas on the go that may not have time to pop in, have no fear you can find equal the fabulousness at their site here.
“Baanou caters to fashion-savvy woman with an eye for classics as well as an interest in nascent talents. Founded by Maryam Afshari in 2014, Baanou has quickly become the leading go-to destination for fashion and accessories, offering a carefully edited mix of lines that cater to every lifestyle and budget.”
Now let’s talk about Keepsake The Label which is the brand of the dress I am wearing here. Keepsake is an Australian women’s brand that emerged in 2011. Their line of apparel is the perfect mix of sexy and feminine! Their crisp lines and designs had me on the hanger! Not to mention once I tried it on the fit was amazing, hence why this pretty little number is now in my closet! The designers pay attention to every detail and it surely does show!
Unfortunately, this exact Keepsake The Label dress is sold out but I have linked some other perfect “from weekend to work” styles here!
Okay, so now I just have to share what happened to me at the gym! I can’t make this stuff up!! So, I was showering at the gym before work and you know how sometimes you throw your towel over a shower rod? Okay well that’s how my towel was and when I was done showering I pulled on my towel (I guess a little too hard) and THE FREAKIN SHOWER ROD FELL DOWN!!!!! I became so frantic trying to put the shower curtain back on the rod while putting the rod back up and trying to cover up as much as possible with my now wet towel! Omg, thank goodness no one else was in the bathroom at that moment which seriously there is normally one person waiting for the shower!! I would have just died!!! The good Lord was looking out for me this morning but I guess he knew I needed a good laugh! LOL and now I hope you got a good laugh too!!
Thanks so much for stopping by loves! Wishing you a blessed week!
“Success is never getting to the bottom of your to do list”
We are almost through the 2nd week of the year guys! Can you believe it?!
Everyone that knows me, knows that I love distressed denim! My hubby not so much, LOL. I love that you can just throw on a pair of heels with this otherwise grunge look and take it to “street-chic” instantly! I am also loving the floral Adidas logo so I linked up a few styles below!
Okay, so now that you have ordered your street-chic look let’s talk about this new to do list! Can you believe we almost through the 2nd week of the year?!
For the past 5 or so years I have not went into the new year with any resolutions rather a personal list of “things I want to accomplish/do this year”. I am a lover of to do list so I like to think of this as a more fun to do list for the year.
Just a few things on my to do list:
Go somewhere I have never been (on my list every year). This holds me accountable for some adventure during our very busy lives
Master bathroom total makeover. Stay tuned for pics! But don’t hold your breath though because I’m not sure this is going to happen first quarter LOL
Total closet reorganizing. Both of my closets! I am wide open for suggestions. I keep “dream pinning”on pinterest and this year I am going to make magic happen.
Take my parents and Brandon’s parents somewhere they’ve never been before. Even though this means cutting back on my monthly clothing budget (insert ugly cry here!) it is a risk I am willing to take!
Make sure I take advantage of every opportunity to show the special people in my life exactly how special they are to me. I have always been a “YES!” person. Many of us are…but saying yes to everyone leaves you less time for the ones who matter most. The ones who have always been there for you. Let’s face it we all have people in our lives that are takers never givers. Pick your squad carefully.
Do you guys make a list every year? I would love to hear what you have!
Thanks for reading today my loves! Get your Friday on!
When someone asks me what best describes my style, I have to answer “it depends on what day it is”. Seriously, I wear what makes me feel the most comfortable and confident on that day. I mean I absolutely love love LOVE my destroyed jeans and heels look, but one day I may want to feel super girly and throw on a tutu. This is why I especially love my second look here. Pairing this sporty Adidas t-shirt with a pink tutu and blue heels is kind of perfect. My way of pulling it together was pulling the blue detail from the IG inspired bag and matching them to my heels and bracelet. I mean that’s what style is right? It’s your own.
“Fashion is what you buy. Style is what you do with it.”
If you love this tutu as much I do be sure to get yours from BBStyled Boutique.
They are just the sweetest and they have the cutest merchandise. Here are 5 other items on my BB Styled Wish List!
So last night I started my Tula skincare regimen. I don’t know if it’s because I got 5 hours of sleep (much more than usual) or if it’s my new purifying face wash and face cream, but today my face looks and feels so much more hydrated than usual! Only time will tell!
As we age, we must change up our skincare routine. I will never forget one of my professors in college telling us that it was never too early to start using eye cream. I believed her and started immediately. I am totally thankful today!
In my 20’s my main focus was to keep it simple:
1) Wash my face every night before bed
and
2) Always where some type of sunscreen on my face. Lord knows I love the sun!
I have to say my “keep it simple” method worked fairly well, but now that I am in my 30’s and naturally my skin is aging. My skin is aging, but I am not. Weird, I know. 🙂 This means, slower cell turnover which amounts to dryness, volume loss so less tightening of the skin, thinner skin which exposes expression lines and sometimes even acne can all of a sudden show up in this decade. WTF, right?
So now, my regimen needs to change up a bit and that is why I searched for products that could help me avoid all these things this decade may bring. After much researching and actually some amazing reviews from some of my fav beauty bloggers I have decided to try Tula and share my results with you!
Tula is an all natural skincare line that does not test on animals. Tula believes in the power of probiotics.
“Probiotics, or “good” bacteria and yeasts, are important for the health of your digestive system. Now their powerful healing benefits can be applied to your skin, your body’s largest organ. TULA’s Probiotic Skin Care approach harnesses the power of probiotics and other nourishing ingredients to protect your skin against “bad” bacteria and environmental conditions that harm and age your skin.”
“Their scientific technology stimulates production of vital defense cells to make your skin healthier and more resistant to damage.”
The products I will be adding to my daily routine and reviewing are:
As I mentioned, I just started my new Tula routine yesterday so I will report back my full results in a couple of weeks, but I can tell you that I am already loving how lightweight all of these products are! This is something I look for in all of my beauty items! It hydrates but does not leave my skin feeling oily!
In honor of throwback Thursday and finally feeling like I am getting it together from being on vacation mode for almost 2 weeks, I am sharing some of our 2015 highlights. As many of us have big plans for this year it is always nice to reflect on the things we have already been blessed with!!
Let’s start with January 2015. I started on full time with a new company in Supply Chain Management. As I was in the retail corporate world for over 8 years it was definitely a big and AMAZING change for me. My work/life balance is, well…it actually exists now 🙂
February 2015
Celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary in Chicago and it was snowing! OMG, it just felt magical. And although, the Mr. planned an amazing trip can I just give myself some credit here and mention I surprised him with a bad a$$ Armani watch? Okay, thanks. 🙂
March 2015
Celebrated our 1 year anniversary (yes again LOL) in the Canary Islands with some of our best friends who were actually celebrating their 10 year! Also, I can’t forget there was a quick stop in London! Goodness, this may need to be a whole separate post, haha! In a nutshell, this vacation was amazing! We stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom with a botanical garden in the master bath. I’m pretty sure someone ended up in it one night. We ate yummy food, drank yummy drinks, face timed family/friends at who knows what hours of the U.S. day and Danielle and I became Flamenco dancers. We had so many fun filled days and made amazing memories.
I also came back with bruised ribs and a sprained wrist. Long story short we went on a quad safari adventure and as were driving up this MOUNTAIN in a line of other riders we hit a huge rock and flipped our quad. We both flew off and I when I awoke, which seemed like forever but was really only 2 minutes from what Brandon says, everyone was standing around and a sweet girl who happened to be nurse was already pouring water on my scrapes. Okay, I know that sounds a little scary and maybe at the time it was but goodness I am so BLESSED that we can joke about it now. Those scars were not pretty, but that didn’t keep from laying out on those beautiful beaches everyday. Thank you to my hubby and friends for not judging a girl in a two piece with shining Neosporin and bandages all over her back and arm! I knew I should have purchased a GoPro before that trip! LOL
April 2015
First Avon 39 Walk Against Breast Cancer with one of my besties. Raised over $2,000 for the organization. It rained and it poured, but completing that 39 miles felt so good AND it was all for a good cause. My sweet mom is a survivor so I love participating in events such as this.
May 2015
Worked my first election poll. I can’t lie and say it was exactly voluntary because Brandon has been an election judge for the past years and he was in dire need on one more person. Yes, he let me take a long lunch LOL but at the end of the day I felt really good about doing it. Something I typically would not do. This was also the day I realized who I married and that I would probably be doing this every year! So remember to VOTE friends and come see me at the polls.
June 2015
Made it to California just in time to watch our little nephew graduate high school! Proud auntie moment for sure!

October 2015
Celebrated my birthday with the hubby, best friends and the Presley’s in Memphis. Okay, maybe not the Presley’s but we did visit Graceland, same thing LOL. **More pics from this trip can be found under Travel!
