Omg! You guys my one year blog anniversary is in less than 2 weeks! I canât believe itâs already been a year. Time flies when you are having fun! However, Mr. Style Lynn life/Hubby/Instagram husband may not agree! LOL!
No, but really with all kidding aside it has been so much fun and I joke about the hubby because it really has been so much work and late nights as my fellow bloggers know. Though I brainstormed about starting this blog years ago when I finally did last year it was for many reasons.
One of the main reasons was because after graduating with a Fashion Merchandising degree and 10 years of working in the retail/wholesale industry I decided to make a career change that would no longer need my fashion expertise. Donât get me wrong, I 100% do not regret making that decision because it was the right decision for me personally and for our future family life, but I did miss being able to talk about fashion everyday. So what better time than that moment to start a life and style blog which would eventually bring me to you! đ Little did I know, this community was going to be so supportive and you guys would teach me so much and would help me grow. Definitely feeling blessed.
Everything happens for a reason! I truly do believe that! This little piece of my internet space makes me extremely happy to get to spread good vibes, showcase my favorite trends and just getting to share life with you! It is seriously worth all the efforts and late nights. Plus I have met so many amazing people along the way. I have never met so many “strangers” whom now I consider great friends! And man, how it’s been such a great feeling seeing how much my close friends and family support this adventure!

So as you know, I grew up in California and though I have been in Houston for almost 10 years now, not a month goes by that I don’t hear something I have never heard before!
In addition to the southern deliciousness of kolaches, chicken fried chicken, and fried pickles which are all things that were unheard of when I lived in California, below are the terms that have given me a great LOL session so I feel very strongly about sharing them with you!
 Madder than a wet hen
A metaphor describing when someone is angry. Apparently, when hens get wet they are livid. Who knew?! Not this Californian!
She’s got enough tongue for two rows of teeth
Describing someone who talks to much
Jibber Jabber
Someone rambling about nonsense. I actually hear this one every other day. When my hubby asks me what I am jibber jabbering about đ LOL
You can put boots in the oven, but it won’t make biscuits
Meaning “you can say whatever you want about something, but that doesn’t change what it really is”
Half dozen of one, six of the other
Comparing two things that are exactly the same
Nobody drowns in their sweat
Hard work won’t kill you
All of these are probably my most favorite “who even thought of that!” sayings that I have heard thus far.
Some other terms you may have never heard of before because you are from the west coast like me:
Feeder– a term people use to describe the access road
Y’all– “you all”
Bless Your Heart– sounds sweet right? Well, it’s not LOL. I have found that this term is actually how some people speak ill of someone while still seeming to stay proper. Example: “She doesn’t know any better, bless her heart”
Coke– meaning any type of carbonated drink. When a Texan asks you what kind of coke you have, they are really asking you about any carbonated drink not just Coke. Coke can mean Sprite, Dr.Pepper, Root Beer etc..
Fixin’– meaning “I’m about to” Example: I’m fixin’ to go the grocery store, I’m fixin’ to get my nails done. You get the picture
Have you all heard these sayings before?! If not, use one in a sentence today LOL.
If you are from the south I would love to hear some new ones!!
Iâm not sure about you, but putting on a flower crown makes me feel instantly pretty!

Happy Friday and cheers to a 3 day weekend! Who’s with me?!
As you may or may not know I have given my guest room and guest room closet a mini makeover. I’ll be sure to share pictures soon! When we purchased our home a couple of years ago the previous owners had repainted the entire house flat white and eggshell. Before we even moved in we painted the entire downstairs area, along the stairs and the game room area. Actually I’m not even sure what to call that space right now. It’s a nice extra space that could be a game room, but is currently housing Fashion Manor inventory. Anywho, it’s painted. đ After all of that work from our sweet friends and ourselves, I was like I’m going to take a paint break for a couple of months and then I’ll paint the rooms.
Well, here we are 3 years later and I am FINALLY getting to the rooms. I chose to start with the guest room because 1) our master bedroom is the largest and has 4 doors (one main one, one to the restroom and 2 to the closet) I refuse to paint all of those doors. I’ll save up my pennies and hire that job out! and 2) our 3rd room that we currently use as an office will hopefully turn into a babies room soon so until then we will office in our #basic flat white and eggshell space.
If you are in the greater Houston area and looking for a new spot for girls night, Vinyl & Vino night at MKT Bar is the way to go! A night filled with girlfriends, a guest DJ and wine specials? Count me in! And lucky for us it’s tonight and every Wednesday from 7pm-10pm. đ
Last week a couple of us lucky lifestyle and food bloggers had the honor of partaking in a menu tasting at MKT Bar along with an amazing tour through Phoenicia Foods downtown by the owner herself. Being taken through the store by Ann Marie while she gave us the history of Phoenicia and a background of her family was a tour like no other. If you have been to the downtown location before, you already know that the food and wine selection is one of a kind. Not only can you purchase groceries at Phoenicia, but you can lunch there and also enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee all while watching the freshly made pita bread make its way through the conveyor belt throughout the store. Oh and did I mention they also have the cutest giftable items from books to kitchenware?! I’ll be back for you cute coffee mug, cutting board and apron!
Not only does Phoenicia inventory such a great array of international foods and wine from places like Greece, Austria and South Africa, but hearing Ann Marie talk about her family along with pointing out spices and items that are named after her Mom and Dad as we walked throughout the store was something extra special. đ
 After touring the amazing space and getting to try the appetizers placed throughout the store for us to taste we were all looking forward to dinner!
Seriously, everything they provided at the tasting was so delicious. From the appetizers, to the cocktails to the dessert! O..M..G..the dessert guys! Goodness I just remembered I need to get back there stat! đ
We experienced some great flavor that evening, but I would like to share what my absolute favorites were and a definite must try in my book!
Meat & Cheese Platter | Cheese is always a good idea!
Splish Splash Cocktail | Dill infused agave nectar, pinot grigio and strained cucumber finished with bitters. This concoction is nothing short of amazingness!
Braised Lamb Tacos | I wish I would have taken some to go!

Veg Out Pizza | Roasted squash, zucchini, crispy brussels sprouts, goat cheese, basil pesto, artichokes and spout leaves. My mouth is watering as I type!
Roasted Half Chicken | Okay, this chicken with olives and lemon was so amazing that I actually took a to go box home for the Mr. so that he could experience it too.
**If my hubby is reading this, I’m sorry that this is new news to you because I ate the food I brought home for you before I went to bed. I’m sorry!!! But it’s not my fault you were already asleep when I got home LOL

Did you all have a fabulous weekend?! I sure hope so! But now we are back to the Monday grind and if you are having the Monday blues I am sharing 5 ways to instant happiness! đ
Okay, okay. I know some of you are reading this like this shouldnât qualify for instant happiness. Maybe you are dragging into the gym at 5am or 5pm, but you gotta admit once you get those endorphins going it is such a good feeling. Not only do you have more energy, but you feel better about your accomplishment and you start to make better food choices throughout the week and in return makes you more happy overall.
Treat yourself to a yummy coffee (or tea)
This seems like such a little thing, but I typically make my coffee at home in the morning before I fight the battle of AM traffic. Something about stopping at Starbucks or a local coffee shop for an extra delicious coffee or an extra pretty concoction that is Instagram worthy totally makes my morning.
**Extra bonus: buy your coworker a coffee or pay for the person behind you in line. Making someoneâs day is also a way to instant happy! For you and them!
Do a good deed
Doing something nice for someone, big or small is always a good idea. Not only are you helping someone else out, but you will feel so good about what you have done. If you are following me on snap (roselyn_m) you saw that last week I signed up to ride in Houstonâs Tour De Cure. My company is a huge part of this event and it fundraises for the American Diabetes Association. I signed up to ride 35 miles and though Iâm kind of scared because my cycling days consist of 45 minutes of âam I going to make it through this classâ at Ryde, the overwhelming feeling of happiness that I was doing this for a greater cause totally outweighs my fear of âhopefully I donât fall off this road bike in front of everyoneâ. Plan your next vacation
Whether a vacation or a staycation, having something fun to look forward to is definitely a key to happiness. Maybe itâs to the next state to see a family member, maybe itâs a beach getaway with your nearest and dearest friends. Either way, planning something fun and being able to look forward to it makes me oh so happy!

Okay, I am seriously laughing out loud over here just thinking about it. Maybe you are having a not so great day and you just âdonât wannaâ do any of the 4 things above. Grab that frozen yogurt, get in your pjâs, sit on your comfy couch and google âparent text failsâ! Seriously, making Roselyn laugh since 2005 (insert laughing emoji here x 1000) Here is one of my favorites!

I hope everyone had an amazing Fatherâs Day weekend and got to spend it with your loved ones! As you know, my Dad is in California so I didn’t physically spend the day with him but of course we face timed and since my entire family is there I always know he is taken care of and being celebrated as he should be! I am not a jewelry designer nor do I have the skills even near to their talent, but when I saw a suede choker that I absolutely adored tagged at $60Â I just couldn’t justify spending that much on basically a string and some charms! So… I took a shot at trying it myself and it was so easy that I can’t help but share with you!
What you will need:
1.Faux Suede Cord (Walmart)
2.Two Charms (Hobby Lobby)
3.Beads (Hobby Lobby)
4.Scissors (Hobby Lobby)
5.Glue Gun (Hobby Lobby)
How to:
Step 1: Decide on the length of the necklace you want. I wanted mine to wrap around my neck twice and hang pretty long so it ended up being 75″. Once you decide on the length, cut the cord 2 inches longer than that so you have room to tie the beads and charms on.
Step 2: Take one end of the string and pull your beads and charm through.
Step 3: Tie one knot where the charm meets the string.
Step 4: Glue right above the knot so that beads will stay secure when you slide them down.
Step 5: Pull beads down so that they are touching the charm
Step 6: Cut the extra piece of cord. **cut as close to the bead as possible to get a clean edge.
With this much ease I will definitely be making more!
