Date Day At Grimaldi’s Pizzeria

A few weeks ago the Grimaldi’s team at City Centre was kind enough to invite Brandon and I out to spend the afternoon with them filling us up with delicious food!

I had actually been to their Woodlands location so I knew their pizza was ah-mazing but Scott, one of the managers, shared some secrets with us on how they ensure every pizza is as delicious as the last!

Okay maybe these aren’t Grimaldi’s trade secrets 🙂 but I thought is was so interesting when they shared the following with us. In addition to their coal fired, brick oven and fresh ingredients, Grimaldi’s uses a very unique water filtration system to replicate the exact composition of the water in New York, where the restaurant originates from, to ensure the dough tastes the same in their restaurants throughout the US. Their family business began with the opening of the first location under the Brooklyn Bridge in the borough’s DUMBO neighborhood in 1990. Now they have locations throughout the U.S.; Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Also, a fun fact that you may or may not have already known, NYC’s tap water is world renowned for its purity and taste. I thought that was so interested when I learned that. Maybe because it’s such a big city, I figured the tap water was a no go! So not the case.

Anyway, when you visit Grimaldi’s you can select from their signature pizzas or you can create your own. We opted to create our own ricotta, chicken, mushroom and black olive pizza. It did not disappoint. It was Brandon’s first time and he was very impressed!

As we devoured our giant pizza, Jeff reminded us that we had to try a dessert before we left and I am so glad he did! We shared the oreo cheesecake and I gotta be honest I’m kind of sad I had to share that with the husband 🙂

In addition to the great food the atmosphere is great. It’s decorated very industrial like with NYC artwork. The City Centre location is very spacious and we may or may not have had a run in with a Texan, cough cough JJ Watt, while we were there.

They opened a location in the new Baybrook Mall outside addition which is super close to our house so we will definitely be visiting soon but if you all want some great food with excellent service and a possible run in with JJ then I highly suggest visiting the City Centre, Houston location!
