Skincare Empties: LOve It Or Leave It?

Happy Monday! I typically don’t share posts like this but I figured with all of us stepping up our skincare routine game during quarantine (I mean what else is there to do?) no better time than now to start a series like this right?

Today I am sharing a few skincare products that I have used for the past couple of months and I’m going to give you the scoop on if they are worth the $$ or not!

Skin Type: My face skin type is normal to dry. Pretty normal but I do get dry spots in certain areas and always worse in the colder seasons.

Skincare Empties: Worth The $$ Or Not?

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask : This cruelty free mask has the “Clean at Sephora” stamp of approval, which means its free from certain ingredients like sulfates, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde, and more.

What It’s Supposed to Do: Combat over-worked, dry and dull skin.

How To Use: Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin. Leave on for 10 minutes. Blot with a warm cloth if needed but no need to rinse.

My Opinion: Totally worth all the hype! I purchased a trial size when I first read amazing reviews on this product but after the first use I was sold. I think I have purchased the full size at least 3 times now. I get extremely dry patches around my mouth and on my forehead and this jet lag mask instantly hydrates them. I like to sleep in this mask and wake up with the most hydrated, dewy looking skin. I will definitely be purchasing again. If you can’t tell from the picture above, I’ve been squeezing the heck out of my tube! Definitely purchasing asap!

Peter Thomas Roth Potent C Bright & Plump Moisturizer – Vitamin C is so important for our bodies and skin. I am a huge fan of vitamin c enriched facial creams and have tried and loved so many Peter Thomas Roth products that I didn’t mind spending $68 to try this product.

What It’s Supposed To Do: Reduce dullness and uneven texture, dryness, fine lines and wrinkles. With the antioxidant blend of THD ascorbate 10%, Vitamin E 3%, and Ferulic Acid 2%, this product should help improve the look of brightness, firmness, fine lines, and wrinkles. Said to be 50x more powerful than traditional vitamin c.

How To Use: Apply twice daily on face and neck. Can be used under makeup.

My Opinion: I didn’t really love this product. Again, I usually love Peter Thomas Roth skincare products but I didn’t feel like this worked for my skin. Everyone’s skin is different and this product just isn’t one I would personally purchase again. I used it for about 2 months and feel like I didn’t see a change in reducing fine lines or adding brightness to my skin. I also didn’t think it was super hydrating either which I really look for when using vitamin c enriched products.

Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Night Cream: This night cream has blend of 8 anti-aging peptides and neuropeptides. Includes aloe vera, vitamins A, C & E, retinol and gycolic acid. Helps with deep wrinkles.

What It’s Supposed To Do: Minimize look of pores, restore moisture and revitalize skin while you sleep. Designed to help improve the look of daily environmental damage

How To Use: Apply nightly to face and neck. You can use alone or with a serum.

My Opinion: I’m like crying right now because I cannot find this exact product in stock anywhere! Literally about to email them and see if they are discontinuing it. I hope the answer it no. This product is 100x worth every penny! After about 2 weeks of using this night cream, I saw my frown lines and dark spots diminishing. I would wake up with such soft and hydrated skin. I will be stalking every retailer for this product because I definitely want to purchase it again!

Dr. Brandt Oxygen Facial: I bought this a while back when the Dr. Brandt website was running a deep discount sale. I hadn’t seen anyone I know use it but the reviews on the site were so good and we all know your girl loves sale!

What It’s Supposed To Do: Helps restore the look of luminosity and protects skin against environmental stressors. “This mask is inspired by professional pressurized oxygen facials, which transforms into a percolating veil of energy on the skin. The formula contains tiny spheres of pure oxygen that bubble up, working like magnets to attract oxygen from the atmosphere into the skin for visible clarity and radiance.

How To Use: Apply thin layer to clean, damp skin. Do not rub it in. Leave on for up to 5 minutes and the product will start to “bubble”. Rinse with warm water and pat dry,

My Opinion: “Whoa!” Was my immediate reaction to the product after using it for the first time. Follow the directions when it says apply a THIN layer people. I apparently am heavy handed when it comes to product and I felt like the product was bubbling up into my nostrils LOL! It’s because I used way too much! But immediately after I washed it off, my skin felt like it had just come up for air. It’s the strangest feeling. It’s almost felt like my skin was super clogged and then this mask just helped a ton of oxygen get inside of it. I know that sounds strange lol but that is exactly what it feels like! I will definitely be purchasing this product again! My skin always feels so hydrated, clean and smooth after using this product. Linking both the Sephora site and Dr. Brandt site.

I hope this post was helpful. I don’t really like writing about products I don’t like but the truth is, it doesn’t mean they are bad products, it just means they didn’t work for my skin type. Please let me know if you have any questions about these products or any others! I think I’ll be sharing this type of post once a month.

Have a great week beauties!
