Mom’s First New York Fashion Week

Happy Friday! I got a cutie on the blog today! One I call Mom and baby Weaver calls Lola! 🙂 As you know, Mom attended her first fashion week this year and fit in oh so well! We may or may not have coordinated our outfits, haha! I absolutely adore my Mom and to be able to bring her along for a fashion week experience meant so much to me and her too.

Today I am sharing our coordinating looks 🙂 , some of her fashion week agenda plus a few things that will make you LOL

I was so fortunate this year to have worked with many agencies repeatedly that most of my invites were for a front row seat. So naturally Mom got to sit front row, receive swag bags, got all her photos taken by the photographer, etc. I was like “Mom, just know I didn’t have all this front row goodness my first show!” haha. She was loving it.

Mom also attended the Vogue Magazine x Kendra Scott party with me. She got to design her own charm earrings with the KS team and when they handed them to her she was like “these are free?” LOL. My Mom was cracking me up so much during fashion week. I literally need to write a post titled “overheard by Mila at fashion week”.

If you know my Mom at all you know that she is the sweetest, most loving and outgoing woman. But you probably also know that she is as blunt as they come. Not in a rude way, just in a Filipino, no filter kind of way, haha. There was a girl that had a huge, I mean HUGE (and gorgeous!) diamond ring on talking about how her husband designed it for her and my Mom responded with “is that real?” O…M…G… I literally just stood there for a moment didn’t even know what to do. After I picked my jaw off the floor and realized the girl didn’t respond I was just like yes, it’s real Mom then I tell the girl “your ring is stunning”, grab my Mom and just move onto the rest of the party and accept the fact we had an enemy in the room now, lol. It’s hilarious now but honestly I was terrified because I didn’t want that person to think my Mom was rude (she’s not at all!) she was just asking an honest question that other people may have been thinking.

Another funny thing that happened with Mom was we were at a fashion show and both people sitting next to us were videoing live on their Instagram and Facebook accounts. This outfit comes down the runway in front of us and Mom says “hmmm, no one is going to like that”. I didn’t know if we were going to get kicked out of there or if someone was going to hire her! Ahhhh, never a dull moment with my Mama!

We seriously had the best time and you can see why she kept me laughing the whole time. She kept telling me how thankful she was that she got to come and that just meant the world to me guys. When I first booked her flight out to NYC I was stressing out a little because fashion week is go, go, go. It’s not all glam life like it seems. I have back to back meetings, running all over the city and I just wanted to make sure I could schedule as much time as I could with my mom during this time. I am so thankful my aunt and cousins live in New York because they were able to take her to do all the tourist things while I was at meetings!

This might be too deep for a Friday but honestly, I am just at a point in my life that I know our time with our loved ones are limited and I will basically do anything my parents and family ask of me because we may never get that moment again. You know what I mean? So stressing out about schedules, having to pay for multiple hotel rooms, multiple Uber rides to my aunts house and back into the city were just minor things compared to the memories we created during such a special time with the most special person!

For some moments, we only get one chance.

xo, Roselyn
